Sad news. 82, which is not that old now. So many great roles over a long, massively successful career.

So sad. My DD is a film student and she loves him. She’ll be really sad.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 08/02/2019 15:04

No! Sad

Murder on the Orient Express - 1974? He was a very unlikely Poirot but carried it off. What a terrific film that was. The music is wonderful, fantastic cast.

Tom Jones - brilliant role very early in his career.

Excellent villainous CIA baddie in one of the Bourne films.

He didn't look in the best health in the Bond film he was in.

haverhill · 08/02/2019 15:27

I saw him in Art yonks ago and he was in the bar having a quick stiffener before curtain up. Another great one gone.

NoWayNoHow · 08/02/2019 15:31

Ah, I loved him to bits in everything he was in.

Sad news.

Strokethefurrywall · 08/02/2019 16:26

Noooo!! I adored Albert Finney! Ever since I grew up watching Annie and his turn in Erin Brockovich was fantastic.

I'm glad his passing was peaceful - Rest In Peace.

PrivateIsles · 08/02/2019 16:27

Terrific actor. He was in so many different types of films wasn't he - he was a great Scrooge and I loved him in Erin Brockovich as well as loads of other things.

So true about Orient Express OP, he was an unlikely Poirot but he played him brilliantly.

Sad news.

Bubastes · 08/02/2019 16:29

Always thought he was sexy in an unpretty-boy, unreconstructed male kind of way.

PuppyMonkey · 08/02/2019 16:32

Saturday Night and Sunday Morning - the quintessential 1960s film imho.

Rogueaccountant · 08/02/2019 16:45

Grind me down?

I’d just like to see them try.

Oh how sad. Loved him i Erin Brockovitz (can never spell that!) and A Rather English Marriage. That was superb!

SweetAndSourPrawnBalls · 08/02/2019 17:29

A brilliant actor. Very sad, RIP.

DioneTheDiabolist · 08/02/2019 17:29

He was a brilliant actor, but I hated his Poirot.

RockyFlintstone · 08/02/2019 17:35

82, which is not that old now.

82 is a great age to reach! It is sad he has died, he was a great actor, but to say that 82 is 'not that old' is just silly.

Snowmaggedon · 08/02/2019 18:21

Amazing actor reminded me of my dad. Loved him in so many films

Whatthefunk · 08/02/2019 18:29

Had a real soft spot for him. He and my mum were at school together, in Salford. Sad

Bittermints · 08/02/2019 22:29

Rocky, I suppose I'm thinking about people the world could easily spare who are well on the way to 100 - Mugabe, for instance and the Duke of Edinburgh. My parents are older than 82 by several years and they have lots of friends of a similar age. It's nothing like as unusual as it was a generation or two ago to live to well over 82.
