Baby being sick after marathon feeding session

Baby is 3 weeks old, on 3/4 separate occasions he's fed for about 3 hours with hardly any let up. After this he's been sick a lot, drenched his clothes, my clothes etc.

How do I stop this happening? Is it normal?

He's exclusively breastfed so should I take him off my breast earlier?

Mine is doing this as well (4 weeks) - it’s normal and is their way of getting supply up. Often they do this before they’re due a growth spurt, so get in some packets of biscuits and prepare to be held hostage on the sofa for several hours!

If there are no other signs ie he hasn’t been throwing up after every feed, it’s fine and is more a laundry issue than anything else 😏

At least I know I'm not alone, he's my first baby so I'm constantly questioning if things are 'normal'!

Fun doing the washing at 4am! 😂

He does sound very normal but a few things to look out for. Is he having regular wet nappies? How is his weight gain? Does he settle after vomiting or want to get straight back on and feed? If he’s feeding almost immediately after vomiting and the vomiting is persistent with most feeds I would get him checked, the concern is pyloric stenosis as he’s the typical age for it.

It’s very likely it’s just him feeding a lot and getting up your supply but just something to watch, especially if vomits become increasingly forceful.

He has loads of wet & dirty nappies.
He does get on and feed straight away after but keeps the next (much shorter) feed down.
It's just worrying as he brings back so much.
He's still gaining weight too

Yup my DD2 did this as well. Feed for ages and then throw up spectacularly!! It was always late in the evening when she did it and DH would be putting DD1 to bed so I’d be on my own trying to figure it out.

Ds used to do this. Eat until he was sick and then eat some more!
Healthy weight and plenty of nappies sounds fine.

Yup, mine did that. As others have said, it's helping to get your supply up and he might also be heading for a growth spurt. I used to keep loads of muslins handy to put round myself and him for every feed just in case. He's now nearly as tall as me so it's obviously not done him any harm!

Yes my daughter used to do that - she did it roughly once a week for a couple of months
