Hello,

My sons 4.6 and has verbal dyspraxia.
He's just left nursery this week (thank god) and got a school placement with an EHCP.

Just wondering if any other parents have had issues with nursery/school settings understanding verbal dyspraxia?

Certain nursery staff were always making strange comments like
"I told him I don't listen to noises, use your words"
I had to tell her about 3 times they are not noises they are his words!!!
And lots of not so suttle remarks hinting at him having autism.
Unfortunately he had to be in an education setting for his educational physcologist assesment and as the SLT there is fantastic I kept him there for two sessions a week.

I don't have Facebook and don't talk to any other parents who's children have Speech and language needs.
I'd love to hear your experiences!
Smile

Sorry, not quite following...
He's no longer in nursery but a SLT there was good but the nursery nurses were rude? Or a different setting?

Sorry, yes he's no longer in nursery. He left on Monday and is starting reception next week.

The staff at the nursery just didn't seem very understanding at all but I kept him there for his assesment and the SLT.

The school he is starting seems great with the same SLT as nursery.

I don't have specific advice, but it might be worth posting in Primary Education or SN Children, and indeed searching for old posts in those sections.
