Money is no object. You have a whole room to yourself, maybe even a warm shed. No one else is allowed in. What do you do with it?

I would set up a sewing room. Lots of lovely fabrics on organised shelves. A wine fridge. A well set up sewing table, radio 4 playing in the background. No children whinging at me.

I would have a library with one of those ladders to slide around the room on.

Yep ^ I'd be sliding around the room like Belle!

I'd have a gorgeous armchair/snuggle chair to sit and read on in a little reading nook tucked out of the way. Plants everywhere and good quality, soft lighting. A projector would come down with the press of a button and enclose me in a little personal cinema, and in the wall next to the chair there would be a fridge and cupboard with wine, popcorn, and chocolate.

There would also be a writers' nook embedded into another wall, with expensive fountain pens and notepads, a beautiful desk, and speakers playing inspirational music (quietly because it's a library!). There would also be a massive computer screen behind the desk which is treated as a piece of artwork unless I need it for research.

Since money is no object, underneath the thick pile rug in the centre of the room the floor would retract and there would be a hot tub built into the floor. When the floor retracts, the bookcases would be covered with a protective screen which acts as a giant tv/projector with a choice of nature views, so I could be in the middle of the mountains, or at the beach, anywhere! The appropriate sounds would automatically play. Oh and behind one of the bookcases would be a sauna with a selection of whitecompany robes waiting for me, just because I can!

Library with writing desk and huge comfy recliner with luxurious throws. I'd also have a fancy coffee machine and some gorgeous art work. Maybe a sculpture too.

Pinkyponkcustard · 08/02/2019 10:48

Karaoke!

A full band to accompany me as I slaughter all the power ballades.

And a fully stocked cocktail cabinet with a hunky bartender who lives my singing Grin

Pinkyponkcustard · 08/02/2019 10:49

Ballards ffs

VanillaSauce · 08/02/2019 10:53

Big leather sofa, woollen blankets, wood burning stove, bookcase full of books and a radio. Oh, and tea making facilities. I'm sure the cat would come join me in this room too.

Boxlikeahare · 08/02/2019 10:54

Art, chair, books, woodburner (mine is a fake one here) my weaving loom, a piano and something to stream music on, nice candles, lovely cushions and throws.

I have sort of created this room at home in a downstairs snug that no one else seems to use. H asked me if I had an account at the local gallery/art shop last week because the room is bursting with their stuff!

TheDogsMother · 08/02/2019 11:19

My lovely small room has just been completed IRL. Fitted wardrobes with lots of little nooks for bags, scarves, tops etc. Lots of hanging space and a shoe rack. Dressing table with drawers each side including one sectioned for make up. Flowers, little keep sakes and a nice picture from DH. Soft deep carpet. It's bliss and makes me sound considerably more well groomed than I actually am GrinIf not in here then in the small but perfectly formed garden shed

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 08/02/2019 11:21

Mine would be at the top of a square tower. Windows on three sides, a fireplace on the fourth wall. Decorated in pale blue and gold, with leafy plants. Comfy chairs to read in, or just sit looking out at the weather. A big wooden table for whatever my current fad was. Cabinets of curious objects between the windows. And it would be behind a hidden door so that no-one even knew it was there and could never get in to disturb me.

MyBreadIsEggy · 08/02/2019 11:25
  • Huge TV with Netflix.
  • Huge wall to wall bed stacked with pillows and blankets.
  • Krispy Kreme donut cabinet like they have in tescos which is restocked everyday.
  • A phone with a direct line to Uber Eats.
  • A lock on the inside of the door

Bliss.

We have done this actually, converted a spare room into an art studio for me, I have a work space where I can drill and sand , another work space for assembly, and finally somewhere for all my stock.
Not unlimited funds though, did the while thing including tools, work surfaces and storage for under 1000.00

Lavenderdays · 08/02/2019 21:28

I have a small room that is predominantly mine (occasionally used by dh). It is full of books, and contains my computer because I love to write. We are not overlooked so I don't have a blind at the window to allow maximum light in. There is one or two miscellaneous things pertaining to the general household in my room currently, which I hope to ship out but really it contains mostly my things. The theme of the room is black and white/art deco (the two bookshelves provide the colour) and I am planning to install a bakerlite phone for my birthday. If the room was bigger, I would probably have some comfy furniture in it too. As a child I always wanted a room full of books = a library, I have a mini version of this I suppose. I have the room but don't have the time I would wish to spend in it.

halfwitpicker · 08/02/2019 21:28

Mine would be a loft conversion in NYC.

I'd have a corner that acted a a kitchen, fancy coffee machine, loaded fridge etc.

I'd have a corner with a lamp, armchair and bookcase. Massive TV, with an inglenook fireplace, logs at the side.

I'm another corner I'd have a filled wine rack with a table and two chairs, style Paris, overlooking the park.

In the final corner I'd have a stand alone bath tub, heated towel rails and loads of luxury products to splash about with.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 08/02/2019 21:54

A soundproofed bedroom, so I can sleep. Dark, and comfortable.

spinabifidamom · 09/02/2019 06:59

Oh and I would also have my own padlock and a decry stash of chocolates and books to read.

spinabifidamom · 09/02/2019 07:00

*secret

WineGummyBear · 09/02/2019 07:11

Yoga/cycling studio.

Massive TV screen to show my yoga teacher (Adriene). Massive windows with sea view.

Bikes set up on turbo trainer.

Awesome sound system.

Fridge with chilled drinks. Lovely fruit bowl. Couple of nice armchairs.

SubparOwl · 09/02/2019 07:21

I'd freeze it and fill it with penguins like Mr Popper. Surely there is no superior option.

CormoranStrike · 09/02/2019 08:12

I’d hVe a craft room in two halves - one side a sewing room, massive cutting/quilt planning room, shelves and shelves of fabric, all the tools and a good sized sewing table with my machine recessed into it.

As money is now object (great game) I would have a long arm free motion quilting machine.

At the other end would be paper crafting - scrapbooking, cardmaking etc.

Again, big table, lots of shelves.

There would be plenty of light, pretty views, warmth and a DAB radio.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 09/02/2019 09:44

Mine would have a huge, deep bath, with an unlimited supply of hot water and a large selection of beautiful smelling bath oils and foam.

There'd be an enormous book case within reach of the bath, filled with well-loved favourite books - not first editions or anything I'd worry about getting wet in the bath.

There'd be a mini fridge with wine and chocolate in it, a speaker for music/radio and a screen with a streaming service.

And it would be soundproofed and have a big lock on the door, so I could actually escape my family for a bit!

Justanotheruser01 · 09/02/2019 09:51

A really pretty extra living room with snuggly materials and a warm feeling to it and it just be mine nobody else allowed in

iklboo · 09/02/2019 10:02

Library with a fully stocked gin bar, comfy couches, blankets / throws, music system and cats.

haverhill · 09/02/2019 10:07

A cosy and slightly boho place with some 1960s/70s furniture and fabrics mixed with mid-century stuff.
MASSIVE sofa.
Books, DVDs and CDs in abundance.
Lots of art on the walls.
Flowers and plants.
Space enough to do Pilates/yoga.
Tea-making station.
Fridge.
Cheeky extra addition: beautiful swimming pool just outside.

AlanThePig · 09/02/2019 10:48

I already did it. Dh had his garage where he messes about at the weekend so I got my craft room. It's never usually this tidy though....

Money is no object. You have a whole room to yourself, maybe even a warm shed. No one else is allowed in. What do you do with it?
leasedaudi · 09/02/2019 12:36

@bookmum08 my husband has a Lego / library. No craft though

Disfordarkchocolate · 09/02/2019 12:46

Reading room/snug. It would have a log fire, oak shelves and warm soft yellow walls. There would be an excellent radio to listen to R4 Extra. Ideally, the view would be of a river and the walls would be lovely and thick so you could have a window seat. It would have to have a couple of nice high backed chairs by the fires and a more snuggly sofa too.
