New phone, different charger. Annoying.

Upgraded my phone today to the Huawei P20 lite. Dh already has a Huawei. Never occurred to me to ask what the charger looks like. Get home and find it's a completely different cable to every other chargeable gadget in the house.

We have a charging cable in the car, I have one at work, there is probably one in just about every room in the house and 3 in the utility room for charging bike lights and kindles and tablets. I don't need to have one with me if I go to my mums because she has the same kind. How irritating would it be to have a phone with a completely different charger? I am not very organised at the best of times.

What would you do, just buy 5 new cheap chargers from Amazon and have one everywhere, or return it? I'm trying to simplify my life, not make it more complicated by needing to remember a different type of charging cable.

I am so pissed off I didn't notice in the shop. I think I'm going to take it back.

First world problem I know, we are all well and healthy and happy and this is really no big deal.

Yes but it's a USB C and you'll never put it in the wrong way round ever again.

That is true. I am pissed off out of all proportion about this. Why can't things just be the same? Why are simple things so complicated?

Oh really? Is this becoming a new thing then and eventually they will all change? I don't like change.

Think mine is the usb c one too- oval shaped

Buy some of these, they fit on the end of an existing cable. Dead handy.

Ot will be the USB C bloody annoying atm but yes it will become the norm

Its like when apple changed from the 30 pin to the lightening connector, its just that changing over cross over time. Espexially when many of the shops that sell 3rd party leads only have micro usb, but i did notice a usb-c lead in the pound shop tje other day sooo ots coming more universal now

I too have a phone with a usb-c amd wjen my cable broke at like 8 o clock at night it wasn't good with a flat full of lightening chargers (former ipbone user still have ipad) and tje normal mirco usb. But one day you'll be annoyed thaf something isnt usb-c and you no longer have any mirco usb leads

I have the same phone and what sold it to me is that the C charger that comes with the phone is super fast plus the phone holds a charge for ages - hence no need for chargers in every room Smile

So I’m an early adopter of new technology then and not the idiot stuck with some completely random charging style that will never catch on? I feel better now. Thanks for all your expertise!

I came on to say get the converters too, we have them scattered around the house. USB-C is so much better than the old USB.
