Why does cheese...

Always taste better grated?

I’m not a big cheese fan but I am partial to the odd cheese sandwhich. It always tastes better when it’s grated though not just sliced and popped on the bread. Why is this I wonder

Greater surface area.

I'm the same. Probably because like you, I'm not a big cheese fan.

Lovely grated in a sandwich with a bit of finely chopped red onion, or melted on toast.

The grated stuff in packets is grim.
Freshly grated is good.

Yeah I can’t stand the ready grated either

But it’s coated in something to stop it sticking together which is why it tastes so dry

Lovely fresh grated all the way

Mmm could really go cheese on toast now.

safariboot · 07/02/2019 19:26

I stick to sliced because I find cheese tastes better in my mouth, not all over the floor Grin

I’m not a fan of grated, but I love cheese

I slice cheese too but it's because I am greedy and lazy.
