What is 'too corporate'?

DH moans that his partner firm is too corporate. When I ask him to explain I'm confused.
Does it mean following every guideline and if so what's bad about that?

I always think 'too corporate' means a company has lost their human element.

Sometimes companies can become too policy/procedure driven and when they don't reflect how things can actually be done, it can cause issues. Often these processes are not written by those that implement them which is where the issue lies.

Thanks Dan, that makes sense.
He did receive guidance on how to walk down the stairs in the office correctly Hmm

Another meaning could be lots of corporate speak, office politics, pointless tick-box training etc

Ha...I once fell down the stairs at work in front of a whole group of students. Perhaps I should have read that guidance! Blush
