Teacher's builders bum - would this bother you?

Dd tells me her drama teacher wears low slung trousers and can see his bum crack when bending over. Appropriate in a school or not?

No definitely not. Phone the school if I was you.

crosspelican · 07/02/2019 12:00

It's about professional attire so no, it's not on (literally) and I would probably say it informally to the head in the playground rather than sending a formal email. I know our head would act on it, but I'm not hugely confident that an email just to the school office would get through.

twosoups1972 · 07/02/2019 12:02

I actually have a complaint going through at the moment about this particular teacher. Deputy Head is making excusesdealing with it, shall I mention it to her? How would you phrase it?

Staff dress code at our school is you can wear anything as long as you can’t see up it, down it or through it. So no, this wouldn’t be ok in our school.

At the DC’s secondary however, someone would long ago have dropped a pencil down his/her bum crack to draw attention to it Grin

RiverTam · 07/02/2019 12:20

fed up of seeing men's arse cracks all over the place. Fucking pull you kecks up and buy a belt!

So yes, I'd say something.

scoobyloobyloo · 07/02/2019 12:22

If you want to be 'that' parent, go ahead.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 07/02/2019 12:24

Headmaster-yes, I would be Hmm covet that up, mate.

Drama teacher- not much.

It is utterly inappropriate in any work place situation. Yes, I would indeed report it. I would also be following through strongly on the issue you already have with this person and going over the deputy head to the head and governors, if you are in England. In Scotland, head directly to the relevant department of education.

SnuggyBuggy · 07/02/2019 12:35

Is he making a habit of it or was it just a wardrobe malfunction?

RiverTam · 07/02/2019 12:35

scooby why would this make you 'that parent'? Or do you think it's fine for kids to have to see adult arse cracks?

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 07/02/2019 12:36

Surely other teachers have seen it?

twosoups1972 · 07/02/2019 12:49

It wasn't a one-off, dd tells me it's quite a regular occurrence. I'm not sure I'm going to mention it or not, at the moment I am waiting for the DH to come back to me with my points raised.

OP posts:
lifetothefull · 07/02/2019 13:42

I don't think it's appropriate.

scoobyloobyloo · 07/02/2019 20:17

Yes, it's fine for children to see adult arse cracks. We all have one.

And yes, as a teacher I can assure you, you would be 'that parent', sorry.

Sparklingbrook · 07/02/2019 20:20

Does he bend over a lot during a drama lesson.

I can't see how you can complain really or how you would word it.

wotsittoyou · 07/02/2019 20:24

"Yes, it's fine for children to see adult arse cracks. We all have one."

It's interesting that it isn't fine for school children to wear the wrong colour tights, but it's fine for them to be shown their teachers arses.

dawn96 · 07/02/2019 20:30

My partners crack is always out in anything he wears ! I tell him and he can’t pull his pants up any more lol He’s always pulling his top down it’s like his bum is too tall for clothes so maybe the teacher genuinely doesn’t know 😅 because my partner doesn’t if his trousers aren’t falling down he doesn’t know

ArtyKitty · 07/02/2019 20:49

Oh God! My LA coughed sneakily and it still took ms 15 seconds to work out why. I was bent over helping my 6 Year olds create a giant island scene for our topic. Kids didn't care, I didn't feel it or realise. I guess I've put on a few pounds so my trousers pulled down. PLEASE don't complain unless you have reason to believe something sinister is happening.

I wouldn't complain. It's just a bum crack!

You really need to separate the two and it will just look petty if you are/were going to use this to try and strengthen your case.

NaturalBornWoman · 07/02/2019 21:16

Yes, or that nine year old girls should be told to wear 'crop tops' in case anyone should be offended by the sight of a child's nipple! Hmm

scoobyloobyloo · 07/02/2019 22:22

Not quite sure why you are associating the two but IMO both are fine.

scoobyloobyloo · 07/02/2019 22:23

Ahhh I see, you have a complaint going through about this teacher and you think that saying that sometimes you can see the top of his bottom might strengthen it.

It won't.
