Sick pay

Posting for traffic and in the hope there is somebody who can help..

I'm currently off work with SPD, I'm almost 27 weeks pregnant.

In my contract, it says that after 12 months of continuous service, I am entitled to my usual pay at the full rate if I am off for less than 4 days, where I will then begin to receive SSP.

In my early pregnancy I suffered terribly with sickness so I was off then as well.

When I returned back then, I was told I wouldn't be paid anything at the company sick pay rate and would just be paid SSP after 4 days of absence.

Does this sound correct? In my contract it says company sick pay is paid at their discretion, but does this apply also to sickness during pregnancy?

I'm so confused and just have no idea what my rights are for when i do go back to work..

I hope I've made some sense and somebody can explain to me Sad

It doesn't sound clear. Does it mean if you're off for 4 days in one go, or 4 days spread over the course of a year? Could you have two lots of 4 days on two separate occasions at full pay, for example?

Yes, you have been off sick for over 4 days, the reason for the sickness is irrelevant.
What the company is saying is that any sickness lasting upto, but no longer than 4 days will be paid at the company rate, but after that, at SSP.
You have been off sick for longer than 4 days, so therefore you are only entitled to SSP.

Or at least that is how its reading to me.
