Do you shower twice a day on your period?

In order to feel clean and relaxed, I really need to shower before leaving the house and when I come home, when I'm on.

Do most people do similar?

Sometimes i’ll rinse downstairs with the shower at night. I shower every morning anyway.

jomaIone · 06/02/2019 22:20

I wouldn't think twice about showering again if I felt a bit gross but don't as a rule.

What I absolutely cannot understand is those whose bathe while on their period! That just seems so wrong to me. I can only imagine what floats about 🙊

skippy67 · 06/02/2019 22:21

I always shower twice a day.

megletthesecond · 06/02/2019 22:23

I used to when I wore towels..

Sportsnight · 06/02/2019 22:23

Nope, but - mooncup. Absolutely no leaking or mess. One of my favourite things about it, as a sufferer of heavy bleeds.

AngelaStorm73 · 06/02/2019 22:24

Yes mostly

Canshopwillshop · 06/02/2019 22:25

Yes.

Ifangyow · 06/02/2019 22:38

I shower daily anyway, but when was women's week I would have a bath rather than a shower in the evening. @Jomalone I used to use a fresh tampon prior to bathing, same as I did for swimming.

greendale17 · 06/02/2019 22:40

No never

NeverTwerkNaked · 06/02/2019 22:42

Has anyone else had a mumsnet email saying they have been tagged in this thread? Thought it was spam/ someone with a similar name to me! Most strange!

PickAChew · 06/02/2019 22:44

Depends.

Mommaof2x · 06/02/2019 22:48

Everyone’s periods are different in heaviness so if you feel you need to then that’s fine. If I wore a pad then definitely twice a day, tampon not so much

PrismGuile · 06/02/2019 22:52

I don't even shower everyday on my period. Maybe every second day. I don't need to shower more than that. I don't smell, I work in an office and my skin is very dry.

Mummylife2018 · 06/02/2019 22:58

@Dyingforchocolate I shower twice a day even if I'm not on my period!

I really hope you get the help you need with that...

Giraffey1 · 06/02/2019 22:59

Nope.

GinZing · 06/02/2019 23:01

No but I never had heavy periods

FamilyReferee · 06/02/2019 23:04

How do you all manage with showering/bathing with your periods? I have a couple of days where it's just not possible - I have to wash top half, and use wipes for bottom while on loo. I can't wear tampons (or a mooncup), and I bleed heavily, so not having towels on at any time just isn't an option - sometimes I leak onto the floor just going between standing & sitting on loo.

Hwgaaaaa · 06/02/2019 23:06

Yes or a bath but I have very bad periods.

artio0 · 06/02/2019 23:16

Nope, only once. Unless I want to go out and feel like I smell bad...

halfwitpicker · 07/02/2019 00:16

I sometimes have a bit of a second swill at night if I feel the need.

PCohle · 07/02/2019 00:27

Nope, just shower in the morning like usual.

If I couldn't use internal sanpro or had a really heavy flow I would probably feel differently though, so I don't get the Hmmat women who chose to do so.

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 07/02/2019 00:29

Yep ditto OP. On my first day of period I'll also after washing it, fill my moon cup with water sit back down on the toilet and pour/chuck it in that general direction (and hope for the best). Closest thing I'm gonna get to a bidet! That first 12-24 hours I'll easily flood a mooncup and a pad at the same time within 2 hours.

Went to see my Dr about it as its only been this bad since having DC and he basically said tough shit. Hmm

Heavy periods suck. Sympathy to everyone else who get them Thanks

Gwenhwyfar · 07/02/2019 00:42

No.
Showering twice a day is a waste of water and dries out your skin. If you feel dirty 'down there' why not just wash the genitals?
Understandable if your periods make you sweat a lot though.
You say you sweat from sheer pain - that sounds like a painful periods problem that you should probably take to the doctor.
I think I do sweat a bit more on the first day, but that doesn't cause me any particular problems.

Gwenhwyfar · 07/02/2019 00:45

"Went to see my Dr about it as its only been this bad since having DC and he basically said tough shit. hmm"

Change doctors!
Possible even make a complaint about him. You shouldn't be dismissed.

Gwenhwyfar · 07/02/2019 00:47

"What I absolutely cannot understand is those whose bathe while on their period! That just seems so wrong to me. I can only imagine what floats about 🙊"

The flow usually stops in water. Even if it doesn't, so what, it will go down the drain.
