What's happened with Sainsbury's customer service?!!!

So, on Sunday I was due a delivery. Message comes shortly before it - most of the fresh stuff missing - not for the first time. And by this point the shop was shut so I had no way of getting food needed for the week. So having finally had enough I ring up to complain and ask for a refund of my delivery pass - expecting some kind of apology and goodwill gesture if not a refund on the pass. Girl on the phone sounds like she couldn't give a damm but says yes to the refund of the delivery pass - which surprised me so I checked again a couple of times - you'll definitely refund me this? Yes and yes.

Now - the pass is cancelled but no refund. So, I ring up again.

Customer services tell me sorry, we don't do refunds on delivery pass. And no, we can't reinstate either, we don't do that, despite the fact you cancelled it under completely false pretences and having been point blank lied to by a customer services agent.

I have exact time of the call and I have a completely clear memory of the conversation, but now I'm stuck with no refund and no delivery pass! Surely it's obvious I wouldn't have cancelled something I'd paid up front for without a refund!

Is it just me or is this crap customer service?

Yeah they were shitty with me when I complained about very short dated products on a delivery. The same and next days date. What are you going to do?

Well I've emailed and tweeted them. They have also promised to open an investigation (given I have the exact time of a recorded call!) but I'm not convinced anything will happen. Just seem to have a very bad attitude towards their customers, I've really spent an inordinate amount of time on the phone to them today and keep getting told the same thing. So the tweets will continue until I get some result !

And it seems really chaotic. They can't look into my call because I called a different customer service department - e.g. they have one for deliveries and one for online and god knows where else. And by then I didn't have the strength to go over it all with the original customer service dept - surely it's one company!

Someone I know got nowhere with them when they sent a frozen turkey instead of fresh for Christmas that wouldn’t have defrosted in time Hmm

They've always been great for me refunds no problem and credit voucher towards delivery cost for delivery pass

I had several issues with them last year, as well as the drivers repeatedly struggling to find my house (which no other delivery company has ever had a problem with). Have switched to ocado now which I'm much happier with.

I was pretty disappointed with them yesterday when they turned up an hour and a half after my delivery slot. Wasted the morning (precious time when DD is at preschool) chasing it up. No one called me back and eventually I got treated to a £2 voucher. £2?! Really is that what an hour and a half of my life is worth. Unimpressed.
