I thought the journalism was very erratic and patchy. Sometimes it was quality and sometimes it was a poorly informed Facebook post.

I think you are right there. And it was far to obsessed with beauty and fashion for my liking, but there were gems.

It was still working for me, made a big splash...shame squirrels were around!

There's a Go Fund Me been set up as most of the journalists are still owed thousands in some cases - it's a really shitty situation

I'm not sure I'm surprised - it's a clone of so many other click baity sites. With a few decent bits thrown in.
