Stinking gym kit

I've washed it over and over but it just smells foisty, like a swimming costume left to sit in water for weeks.

Why and what can I do to removed the smell?

White vinegar, soak it in it and then add a cap to the wash. Removes all odours amd doesn't then smell of vinegar either.

Halo sports wash. We never have any problems with smelly sports kit (and goodness knows we have enough) and it also doesn't degrade the lycra

I'm not a fan of using it in cleaning now, but zoflora in the wash would sort this.

Napisan. Also don't let used kit ferment - wash it asap.
