Dyson bin stuck. Please help. Photos

Have I broken it? I lifted the little red catch with picture of a bin on. All it’s done is lifted the metal filter thing a bit out of the clear rubbish canister. It won’t go up or down now. Its stuck. It’s got dirt in that I can’t get out. Underneath there’s a plastic catch but no idea how to release this. I thought the red bin button did. Once it’s emptied I’ll be able to push it back down again but I think the dirt is stopping it. Have been online but no idea which model this is. Please help me fix it!

Have you emptied it before? Mine needs quite a bit of force applying in order to open.

Yep. They do need a bit of a wallop sometimes.

No as my kids usually do it. They love a gadget!! Is there anything else I need to push or press to open the underneath of it please? I thought it was just the bin button.

Is there a slidey button on the side anywhere? That's what opens mine but I think it's a different model

No there’s no sliding button on the side. There’s lots of videos for that model!

I’ve shaken a lot of the dirt out and managed to bash the top back in again but it still needs emptying. So tried the red bin button again and a little red catch at the bottom but the bottom has still not opened. This has happened in stead!

Ok... hmm. Does the bottom have a flip out bit or do you remove the whole cylinder? What's the grey button by the word Dyson do?

Think I’ve bashed it too hard and broken it! Suction works but can’t empty it. Hopefully kids can work it out when they get home!

Yes it’s meant to flip at the bottom. The grey button near the word Dyson is the max or normal.

I also faced the same issue with my V11. But when I was surfing on the internet, I found a helful guide that healped me to solve the issue. But unfortunately, I broke the red lever.

First, make sure that the release button is not obstructed in any way. If there is something blocking the button, simply remove it. If the release button is clear but still stuck, try pressing and holding the button for a few seconds. Sometimes the release mechanism just needs a little help getting started. If neither of these solutions works, there may be something wrong with the release mechanism itself. In this case, it’s best to contact Dyson customer service for assistance.
