I took one of these tablets earlier today (pic attached).

I've been suffering from terrible acid reflux and picked these up from ASDA.

I've just read the leaflet and now it says not take when pregnant and now I'm so worried Sad

What do I do!?

Ranitidine.. pregnant!?

I am sure that's what they prescribed me FOR pregnancy related heartburn!!

chxm19 · 05/02/2019 19:14

@Winkybum I did a quick google and I've read people who have said the same but the leaflet tells you not to take them?

It's so confusing!

I was prescribed it when pregnant too. Don't panic!

You should be FINE as omeprazole and ranitidine are prescribed to pregnant women ( I’ve been on omeprazole daily since 24 weeks) medications are not tested in pregnant women so they have to state not to take. However I would speak to your GP or at least midwife and get prescribed. You can definitely take Gaviscon if you need something in the interim

NHS website recommends it for heartburn in pregnancy and I’m taking it as and when now having been prescribed it by my consultant.

Don’t worry and I hope you find it helps!

Ah thanks so much everybody! Mind is now at rest.

I was prescribed 150mcg twice a day when pregnant, so you're fine x

stoplickingthetelly · 05/02/2019 20:12

I was prescribed these too so I'm sure you'll be fine. But you should probably see you're GP and get some on prescription just to be on the safe side and so that it's on your notes.

Ask your doc if it’s safe to have a bit of bicarbonate of soda in water when needed
My dil is pregnant and she has to take these tablets because she only has one good kidney
But do check for yourself

Thanks everyone.

Going to speak with my doctor before I take any more, normal antacids do nothing for me at all!

The acid reflux is so bad atm Sad

Pretty much every medicine has that it's not suitable for pregnant women. But I was prescribed Ranitidine in my first pregnancy. Second time round, it wasn't helping so I got Omeprazole prescribed. Couldn't have coped without it.
