Does anyone else cry so so easily when it comes to animals?

I can't watch Supervet without crying! I can't read FB threads about anything even ever so slightly sad about animals without balling my eyes.

I have just full on cried about seeing a FB post about their dog going blind in the space of a week, which of course is very very sad.

But I cry so easily.

People, i'm not nearly so bad. It's just animals.

The other week I was travelling in an area that I haven't been to in years and I drove past somewhere I had bought a horse from when I was a child. This horse died about a year after I sold it about 3 years on. I cried so much and even cried when I told my mum about it, I was a mess for days. He was a star though.

Any one else?

Yes. It sounds awful but I get more upset about animal abuse than I do about things like child abuse. But then again, I am more of an animal person than a people person.

Moominfan · 05/02/2019 18:07

Yes the other week an old man and his dog walked passed. I cried because one day this dog will pass away. Came on my period next day and it all made sense.

I cried watching some documentaries on cattle farming and slaughter houses where animals are cut into pieces still alive, so yes, one can be horrified and have tears in front of such suffering.

There is plenty to cry about when it comes to the pain inflicted to the animals we put in our plate or the milk we give our children.

daffydowndilys · 05/02/2019 18:12

Yes definitely worse when I am due on.

Daily! I have quite a stony heart when it's people related but anything to do with animal cruelty or neglect and I'm a mess. They are so pure and trusting and incapable of independence, and I find it devastating when people abuse that.

katseyes7 · 05/02/2019 18:14

Oh god, yes. The RSPCA and the Blue Cross tv adverts have me in bits. And l'm even worse with the donkey ones.

PurpleDaisies · 05/02/2019 18:15

I’m exactly the same.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 05/02/2019 18:28

Me too. They are creatures of instinct and when we have pets we vow to care for them and make decisions for them regarding their wellbeing.
The fact that people have pets and abuse them when the alternative ( give them to a shelter etc) seems so simple, makes me rage full. I know it's not that simple but it affects me in a way that cruelty to other humans doesn't ( so much).
The donkeys with their wonky feet - I can't even.

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/02/2019 18:52

Oh yes. Dry eyed about people, in floods over animals

Kikipost · 05/02/2019 18:54

Children yes
Animals never

Bezalelle · 05/02/2019 18:57

Oh me too. Animals being hurt destroys me.

ReaganSomerset · 05/02/2019 18:57

Yes, I do. It's because they're so helpless and don't understand what's going on. And people can be so cruel.

treaclesoda · 05/02/2019 18:59

The only animal I've ever cried over was my own dog when it died, and even that was only for a few minutes.

I detest animal cruelty and I find it upsetting to see an animal mistreated but it has never made me cry.

Having said that, I've never cried over a story about humans either, no matter how awful I find it, unless I know someone involved. I can't really explain it. Years ago I used to cry very easily and now I rarely ever cry. But even in my worst crying days I never cried about news stories or anything like that.

IsadoraQuagmire · 05/02/2019 19:02

Me too. I love all animals, humans not so much.

SilverySurfer · 05/02/2019 19:10

For heaven's sake don't watch SPCA Houston and similar or you will be sobbing 24/7. Horses so emaciated they have to be hoisted up because they can't stand. Dogs with the fur so matted you can't see their faces or skin, massive flea infestation etc. Once it's all cut off the matted fur weighs as much as the dog, etc.

I wouldn't watch except in 99% of cases the animal is restored to health and it shows them placed in good homes which is lovely to see and you see the bastards responsible taken to court.

Somuchroom · 05/02/2019 19:11

The donkey adverts. I feel ashamed to say that I had a donkey ride in Greece up a mountain (I’m tiny). There was a 20 stone woman on the one in front of me and his legs were buckling. I paid the man to take my donkey back down the mountain with no one on him. I hate myself for getting on him.

hendricksy · 05/02/2019 19:12

I'm the same , I don't much like humans and prefer animals .. and yes I'm a vegan .

HavelockVetinari · 05/02/2019 19:12

Not me! I mean, I feel very sad about the mistreatment of animals, but since having DS 18 months ago, anything related to child cruelty makes me full-on weep in a snotty and gasping way. It's very embarrassing! Blush

AnneElliott · 05/02/2019 19:35

I am the same op. I can't watch those programmes. When DS got his Kittens (a local family had rescued a pregnant cat) I wept as I told the kittens mum that we'd be good adoptive family and we'd take care of them forever. DH and the family were Hmm

LadyOfTheCanyon · 05/02/2019 19:45

AnneElliot - that's so sweet.

Dowser · 05/02/2019 20:20

I’m hard hearted Hannah...till it comes to animals
It’s why I can’t have another pet
