Coupe car with toddler?

9 replies

Wintermonster · 05/02/2019 08:19

Would I be silly to be considering a 2 door hatchback or coupe car next when I have a 2 year old ?

Does anyone manage and find it not a major problem?

Is there going to be room for you as well as the 2yo in a coupe...?

@fenellamaxwell
That was the first thing that popped into my head too Grin

Grin the kind of coupe I'm thinking of would hopefully be less cozy

I wouldn’t, my friend really damaged her back putting her toddler in her car seat in a 2 door car. If you really want that car you could always have the child in the front though.

When we had DS1 we had a 2 door Ford Ka. It was beyond annoying getting him in and out of the car seat, we upsized when we wanted him in an ERF car seat and it couldn't fit behind either of the front seats. I see a mum at school struggling with a toddler in a tiny car every morning, a Twingo I think, trying to lift him in and get to the seat belt.

Now my two are older I actually think a 2 door would work better, even though they're bigger, as they can climb in on their own and do up their own belts.

No it's such a pain I fell in love with a car and thought it would be fine but that soon wore off

CallMeRachel · 05/02/2019 08:58

Yes you'd be really silly, and dangerous.

How would you feel if you are involved in a car accident or other emergency situation and you can't get your child out ?

VenusClapTrap · 05/02/2019 09:01

It would drive you mad.

We've had a 2 door hatchback since before our kids were born; they're 8 and 6 now. It's been fine.
