Advice for mat leave card and gift!

One of my colleagues is going on maternity leave in a couple of weeks. I have been put in charge of organising a card/collection

Looking for ideas (I don't have children yet and havent organised one of these before) for gifts

Ive also read on here that 'it's a girl' and 'congratulations' cards are not a good idea. And 'leaving to have a baby' is more appropriate? It's possible she may be having a c section a few weeks early anyway.

Thanks!

I got a good luck card when I finished work and another blank with a nice picture on it. Some of these huge swaddle muslins, vouchers and a bouquet of flowers. But really hadn’t been expecting anything!

Are nappy cakes still a thing? I had one for both my mat leave gifts. You can put whatever else you like in there really.

I usually include something for mum - a couple of face masks, chocolates, gin in a tin etc and something for dad if appropriate - beers etc.
