Because nothing as as good as tea and toast at this time of night

However, it keeps me up at night and I've lost weight since stopping it.

I can’t stand decaf tea. Twinnings is the best at just about drinkable but still not right.
I drink mint tea in the evening. Great for digestion too.

Nothisispatrick · 04/02/2019 20:42

Yes! I don’t know anyone who has supper, the actual word makes me cringe so I’m glad I don’t know anyone who says it.

As for snacking obviously some people might, but I didn’t realise it was so common. Have a good dinner and you’ll be full.

NickyNora · 04/02/2019 20:43

I don't eat anything after my dinner.

I hate toast. I rarely drink tea.

What about some fruit or yogurt & water?

IShitGlitter · 04/02/2019 20:43

Warburton Cinnamon and rasin bagel thins are amazing toasted just like a teacake and are perfect with a cuppa!

brew0andbiscuits · 04/02/2019 20:43

Ooh I love tea and toast for supper!! Have recently bought crumpets so they're my new night time snack with loads of butter😋

BertieBotts · 04/02/2019 20:43

Defo decaf and just reduce calories/carbs earlier in the day to allow for the toast imo. Stick to one or two slices too. I love a cup of tea before bed and toast sounds lovely.

Hiphopopotamus

That was a reply to you. The thread moved quickly.

I also actually thought supper was something posh people ate late afternoon/early evening.

Warburton Cinnamon and rasin bagel thins

I'm starting a tea and toast bedtime tradition purely on the back of this thread.

AlwaysSkintInFebruary · 04/02/2019 20:47

Evening tea and toast is one of life's wee niceties.
I'm never giving it up.

TooMinty · 04/02/2019 20:47

I switched to peppermint tea in the evening as real tea makes me wake up at 3am then be unable to get back to sleep...

TooMinty · 04/02/2019 20:49

I also like jasmine tea or spiced apple and camomile. Wild times in the TooMinty household Smile

MyFootHurts · 04/02/2019 20:50

I had toast and marmite earlier on when I came back from walking the dogs. You've just reminded me how delicious it was Grin

XmasPostmanBos · 04/02/2019 20:50

Why do people hate the word supper so much?

Fazackerley · 04/02/2019 20:51

i agree with the pp who said eat a bit less for dinner then enjoy a big mug of decaf tea and a alice of buttery toast.

XmasPostmanBos · 04/02/2019 20:53

and a alice of buttery toast

Alice, Alice who tf is alice

Boulardii · 04/02/2019 20:54

Mint tea and a handful of almonds or other nuts.

Ellieboolou27 · 04/02/2019 20:56

Op! I’ve just had to make tea and buttery toast now Angry I blame you was bloody lovely

Justmuddlingalong · 04/02/2019 20:57

I'm low carbing and have had to give up drinking bog standard tea in order to keep away from white toast and lurpak butter.

ChippyMinton · 04/02/2019 20:58

Redbush tea and a weetabix spread with butter and marmalade?

mamaduckbone · 04/02/2019 21:00

If you want tea and toast then a piece of fruit and water / a handful of nuts / a yoghurt really isn’t going to cut it!
Yorkshire decaf tea is really good. Maybe buy thinner cut bread, whole grain with seeds to make it feel more virtuous?Grin

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 04/02/2019 21:00

As a kid that was our bed time snack, toast and milk
As an adult tea and toast...mmmm

nicslackey · 04/02/2019 21:04

Surely the important thing is what the op puts on her toast? Butter obviously. Topped with marmalade? Golden syrup? Jam (morello cherry or raspberry are the best btw) Lemon curd? Honey? Off to put the kettle on!!
