Perhaps it was a nice bought but would have perhaps been better to write on the oranges instead

Also - One25 is a bloody amazing charity, please consider donating. They are life-changing, compassionate, feminist and all-round awesome. If MM raises awareness of their work, hats off to her.

SalrycLuxx · 04/02/2019 17:47

For Christ’s sake, leave her alone. Writing messages on bananas seems to be a common ‚mom‘ thing in the US if my Facebook feed is any indication.

MillytantForceit · 04/02/2019 17:48

It does rather recall the Blessed Di borrowing the Royal Mews Roller of a night to go to Kings Cross and hand out Twenites to the girls in the hope this would make them stop.

@LardLizard actually these women are loved. I love these women.

I remember reading about the woman who held Stephen Lawrence when he died, she told him 'you are loved' as he died. That woman modelled how society should be.

nocoolnamesleft · 04/02/2019 17:57

One can certainly hope that the publicity will help funding for the charity.

I think it showed that she is engaging with what she's doing, that she cares and that she wanted to do something small to make a difference. I would like to get a banana with a nice message on. I don't think it matters what the women do for money they are people first and foremost.

Cel982 · 04/02/2019 17:58

It seems to me Meg is not about liberating women at all and all about looking after the men, which isn't a feminist in my opinion

Right. Because writing a supportive message to these women was an implicit endorsement of sex work and the patriarchy as a whole Hmm What should she have written? "Make better choices, you stupid bint", perhaps?

AbsentmindedWoman · 04/02/2019 18:30

What did she write?

BalloonSlayer · 04/02/2019 18:30

It takes mean-spiritedness at the highest grade to make nasty comments about someone trying to spread a little encouragement and good will.

percheron67 · 04/02/2019 19:00

BalloonSlayer is she trying to spread goodwill or is she attention grabbing (again). The woman seems to have a thing about bananas - remember that she showed a message of two bananas spooning when speculation was rife about her relationship with Harry?

anotherwearytraveller · 04/02/2019 19:09

I think she did it with all good intent and hate how it is being twisted

KnitFastDieWarm your messages above are great

Bestseller · 04/02/2019 19:17

I got a banana with a "congratulations" message on it after running a race once. The only thing I thought was that someone had spent a lot of time doing it and that I wouldn't have bothered.

I think it was nice to put a note of support in the boxes and a banana's a better fruit than most to write on.

TaimaandRanyasBestFriend · 04/02/2019 19:21

I thought it was silly wankery. This 'royal' family needs to go, or at least not be funded by the taxpayer anymore.

Courchevel · 04/02/2019 19:22

What balloonslayer said. She's trying to be nice.
I thought it was a lovely gesture.

Mysterian · 04/02/2019 19:23

Bananas are the only things sex workers read.

And when I saw the story my first thought was that it was a good idea because nobody could flog the messages on ebay.

percheron67 · 04/02/2019 19:25

Knitfastdiewarm IWill you tell me about this charity, please? I am interested in knowing more. Thank you.

exWifebeginsat40 · 04/02/2019 19:25

i would just like to remind everyone how satisfying writing on a banana is. biro tho, obvs. go, give it a whirl.

BalloonSlayer · 04/02/2019 19:29

Trying to spread goodwill, Percheron.

So she shared a meme about bananas once.

I ate one once. Laughed raucously once at a banana guard. Read an article once about writing on bananas in your DC's lunchboxes. Thought it was a lovely idea but never did it - might have done though! I definitely don't have a thing about bananas. Confused

Bombardier25966 · 04/02/2019 19:33

@percheron67 Another poster has posted a link to the charity in question, most cities will have similar projects. What would you like to know?

shadypines · 04/02/2019 19:35

Struck me as a bit puerile and coveting some attention, like another poster said, just use a post it. Writing stuff like 'you are strong' just comes over as patronising.

Sounds like she is getting involved with a womens charity most MNers would approve of and support. Good for her 🍌🍌🍌

Aqua25 · 04/02/2019 21:53

Attention seeking as always!

Believeitornot · 04/02/2019 21:55

I thought no one was brave enough to tell her it was fucking cringe.

Plus side, those bananas will sell for shit loads on eBay.

castielchace · 04/02/2019 21:56

The look on Harry's face said it all ....FFS
