Spain in October. Yay or nay?

We are looking at going to Spain in October with an 8 year old and a 14 month old... Has anyone been at this time of year? We’ve only ever been in August. Are all the restaurants and bars still open? Is it nice enough to sit on the beach? Don’t want it to be too hot for the baby which is why we’re not going in the peak of summer but I love my sun!!

Costa del sol is lovely. I went early October and it was around 25 degrees. I'd go in the early part of the month though. It gets cooler rapidly. You can get a bit more rain in October though.

Costa del sol will be open. Its a year round resort.

We have been lucky before and got nice weather. But it can be a wet time of year too. Be prepared for some showers and hopefully you will get a dry week.

We have a house in Almeria province, we go every October half term and it's always lovely. Can be cooler early morning and evenings but usually sunny and warm in the day. We go to the beach a lot and kids go.in the sea.

We have to go a but later unfortunately donajimena as it’s during half term. We went in August one year and it rained the whole week anyway Sad there is more choice of villas on the Costa Blanca, anyone know if restaurants and bars there will be open?

There is a fairly reliable few days of wet weather across the Mediterranean somewhere between mid September and mid October each year so there is an element of chance in the weather but you would be very unlucky for it to be a total washout.

We go to Spain or somewhere like Malta every year at this time and usually have good weather apart from the odd half day here and there, or an overnight storm or two.

Or you could go to the Canaries for almost guaranteed sun, but it might be a bit too long a flight?

But everything's still open at that time. I think it's only the Greek Islands that shut down in October - plenty of people still holiday outside August, in fact many people prefer to go in June, September or October, because it's cheaper, less crowded and still hot, and therefore a better holiday experience than July/August.

October is a lovely time to be in Spain.

Bethanyg25 · 04/02/2019 14:43

Yes BarbaraofSevillle canaries would be a bit too long I think, good to know everything is still open thanks. Might book tonight!! Need something to cheer me up after this horrible weather.

I have been in late Oct and some restaurants are closed but the majority are open.
As pp have said, it can get cooler in the evenings but I still come home with a nice colour. This is near the Mar Menor.
