I have the original Spyro trilogy on PS1, but nothing to play them on anymore as our PS2 broke, and the PS4 we just bought is not "backwards compatible" (so you can't play old games on it). I've treasured them for years, played them so many times when I was a kid and have so many happy memories of them. BUT like I said, I can't play them, we now have a PS4 so can buy the new Spyro which is apparently identical to the old ones, just with better graphics. The original trilogy doesn't often appear on ebay so I'd probably get a good price for them.
The games are all playable, but the case on at least one of them is broken. It would be a bit of a wrench to let them go after all this time but if I sell them I could get a new game for the family that DD will enjoy.
So-
Be sentimental and keep them?
Or is time to let someone else enjoy them?
