Holiday villa tips?

After a long search we’ve finally booked a holiday villa in Spain for our family. The group comprises of Grandparents, Grandchildren, sons, daughters etc. In total twenty people with lots of luggage space. So, I’m thinking about things we could take instead of dashing of to the shop straight away? Apparently the nearest shop is about thirty minutes walk. We will be hiring a car but not straight away so does anyone have any suggestions about things we could take in a suitcase? I’m thinking dishwasher tablets, teabags, coffee etc.

Bumping for the evening traffic I hope!

Is there any way you can order things to arrive in advance? That sounds like a logistical nightmare trying to get together everything for 20 people.

Trevorthebikethief · 04/02/2019 18:54

It’s not so much about getting everything together, we will be shopping . It’s more about taking dishwasher tabs, tea towels, things we won’t have to buy once we’re there.

Sort room allocation before you get there to avoid conflict....

Have a 'housekeeping' purse to ensure everyone pays into the fund.

Can you order housekeeping stuff on line to be delivered?

Mintylizzy9 · 04/02/2019 19:04

Tea, dishwasher tabs, laundry tabs if you want to stick to your own brand (I usually pack for three days and bung a wash on every couple of days), I usually have a few snacks for very fussy DS and a small Tupperware box of basic seasonings (usually little salt pepper salad cream etc sachets from the local supermarket cafe!). Everything else I just buy there.

We are travelling en masse to a villa this summer but without masses of luggage! We are hand luggage only but with one booked 23kg case. That case will contain all our shared house stuff. Could you allocate one case for sharing?
We are agreed on
Toiletries for the number of bathrooms
Dishwasher
washing machine tabs (Not travelling with white powder!)
Beach towels
shared hairdryer / straighteners
Tea
Coffee
Sugar
Condiments
Tea towels
Dishcloths
Washing up liquid
Pegs

Sandwich bags - never travel without those

Loubilou09 · 04/02/2019 19:12

And you’re unable to work that out for yourself?

Wow

isseywithcats · 04/02/2019 19:12

definitely take tea bags because ive always found that tea bags overseas are usually twinings which are vile if your a tea monster like me and expensive compared to uk , im fairly sure that in the info pack there will be take away menus in the villa so first night order take out as you will have been travelling all day, washing machine tablets are easier to transport than liquid, powdered milk/ coffee mate for the first night

EleanorLavish · 04/02/2019 19:17

Loubilou09 why on earth would you take the time to write such a nasty thing?
It’s Chat topic on Mumsnet FFS, it’s full to the brim of silly questions etc. It’s supposed to be lighthearted! Honestly people like you just love to stick it in wherever you can, don’t you?
I usually bring what’s been mentioned already, and a small sharp knife, they’re always blunt.Grin

Costacoffeeplease · 04/02/2019 19:18

I would check with your villa manager/owner as we have always had beach towels and tea towels supplied, and offer a welcome pack of basics.

When we rented out holiday properties we also offered to go shopping for clients, if they sent me a list in advance, and made sure it was there for their arrival

Loubilou09 · 04/02/2019 19:21

Because I am totally and utterly intrigued that someone took the time to even write that post out to be honest. I mean come on...really?

Trevorthebikethief · 04/02/2019 19:35

Housekeeping purse is a definite. As for bedroom allocation the grandchildren have already had a look at the floor plan trying to decide who’s going where.
