Ffs, why would you cut the tags off a jumper for a gift, without the receiver having tried it on?

The girls' Nanna bought dd1 a jumper for her birthday, it doesn't fit dd (waaaaay too small). I've just put it with a pair of jeans I need to return & realised the tags have been cut off the jumper so now I need to see if Nanna still has them.

I can't imagine they're going to swap it for something else; I'd think it'd been worn if it was me taking it back with no tags

Sale item and she didn't want you to know??

Oh my mil always does this and as she always buys a size down ie age 6-7 for a 7th birthday I end up sending a lot of brand new clothes straight to the charity shop. So irritating but I haven’t felt able to ask her to stop (I have tried to drop heavy hints about sizing though).

hopefully they will let you return , give you a credit note, they do have a tear off strip, i cut the labels off once and they pointed out the tear off part of the label, but they were lenient.

Sometimes they do it in the shop. Pisses me off no end as you then can't change your mind!

Quite probably April!

It's so bloody annoying, I take prices off but leave barcodes attached if I buy clothes for anyone else.

I'll see what they say. If they'll not swap it I'll pick something else up to replace it. It's not even something I'd wear so can't just have it myself & find dd something different.

I don't even know why she thought such a small size would fit - she's bought an 8 when dd needs a 14 to accommodate her boobs!

Some shops, like H&M, have labels you can't detach the price from. So you either rip the label off / in half.

But yeah for a shop that does have detachable prices, then it's silly.
