I’ve just poured large bottle of water over myself and new born!

Just that! Couple of days ago seven Trent cut our water. I slept with huge water bottle next to me. Recently re filled, I bent down to pick it up half asleep while breast feeding, I dropped it, pick it up wrong way and threw water over us both and the bed.

Now I have wide awake newborn 😫 soaked through bed... fuck my lifeeee it was horrible, being half asleep is so bad for things like this!

What have any other new mums done? Cheer me up and make me laugh or I will cry 😂😭

Hello! Not done anything too bad, a few near misses though! I almost went into the swimming pool still wearing my t-shirt. So, I put my costume on at home so it'd be easier changing DS, and got too wrapped up in getting him ready I forgot to get properly undressed.

Then the time I forgot to pack underwear for afterwards.

Also forgot a t-shirt one time at swimming, just had a cardigan, coat and jeans on. Luckily remembered underwear that time!

Or the time I laid DS out on my towel on the floor to change as the tiny changing room was too busy and he wee'd on it. I take a spare towel now.

So looking back, it's a wonder we still bother with swimming given all my mishaps!

Why has your water been cut?

Justagirlwholovesaboy · 04/02/2019 03:07

They cut your water, if that safe with a newborn?

They did, my whole village was for 48 hours. They’d put it in the newsletter but I hadn’t read about it. We’re putting in formal complaint. It’s on again now, I just still had the water bottle.

Update dd is asleep on the boob, waiting for deep sleep so I can. I am such a tit pouring water everywhere, I’m so cold with just a sheet as duvet is wet. 😴😫

That’s not only just illegal but unlikely, how did you not realise you were without water for 48 hours. Water companies are not allowed to cut people off even if they don’t pay, and strangely no natural disasters reported!

FortunesFave · 04/02/2019 03:40

Oh bless you! To make you feel better, when DD (now 14) was about a week old, I had her in a moses basket at my feet on the floor. I was reading "The Contented Little Baby" book (forgive me I was naive) and next thing you know, being knackered I tried to place the book on the arm of the chair.

I missed and it landed squarely on DD's forehead.

Not so contented.

PRoseLegend · 04/02/2019 03:53

I have done the following:

  • In the morning before being induced, I dropped a drinking glass and it shattered everywhere.
  • Bought a jar of minced garlic and left it behind at the shops
  • Bought another jar of minced garlic and accidentally dropped it on the kitchen floor. Garlic and glass everywhere, including on my foot. Cut my foot :(
  • accidentally knocked DS's head while getting him out of the pram

Well that is one cheap christening.
When dd2 was a baby there were flys hanging around her head so i was waving my hand infront of her face to shew them when she lurged forward resulting in me slapping her face. She didnt cry but she looked so shocked.

SnuggyBuggy · 04/02/2019 04:40

I made some really disgusting homemade fennel tea, literally poured boiling water on some fennel seeds, I tried to drink it quickly as newborn DD needed feeding and threw up all over myself then burst into tears.

I do get the impression that living rurally involves a lot of being left to fend for yourself when things go wrong.

PyongyangKipperbang · 04/02/2019 05:31

When DC6 was a newborn she had the famous "three poos" incident. She pooed, I changed her. As I was doing up the poppers on her babygrow she got the red face..... so I started to change her again. Except that after I had wiped away the poo with the nappy (you know what I mean), I realised that I hadnt got a clean nappy handy so I picked her up and went to the dryer. She pooed again and it fell on the floor. I cleaned her up, put on a clean nappy, all was fine. Until I took the dirty nappies to the washer, stepped in the poo, which I had forgotten about, skidded slightly and so left a lovely skid mark on the carpet.

At that point (then) DH walked in to a very happy DD and a sobbing, covered in shit, me! :o

My parents live in a village that needed work on the water pipes and they cut the water supply to pretty much the whole village for 48 hours. They had a lorry that delivered free bottled water for people to pick up.

It's not illegal and it does happen.

PyongyangKipperbang · 04/02/2019 05:42

Water companies are not allowed to cut people off

Yes they are, especially if those people ould be without water for a lot longer if the work is not carried out. We had a 48 hour planned outage, actually ended up being just over a day, due to a major underground leak that needed mending. If they hadnt then we would have needed the whole street bringing up eventually and been without water for a lot longer. We got bottled water delivered and me and my NDN ended up with more than we needed (dont know about anyone else).

vinegarqueen · 04/02/2019 07:09

Oh poor love. My exhausted DH put his cup of tea down on my side of the bed, then knocked it over, and as it was soaking in asked me why I had put my tea down on the bed. I then sat down and howled ”WHY DID YOU HAVE TO DO THAT TO MY SIDE??! MINE!“

It gets better Grin

Poppylizzyrose · 04/02/2019 08:56

Well had crappest night sleep, she’s barely used to the crib (only been in two nights) I’d been cheating (co sleeping) and had amazing nights like 12-5 so today I am beyond tired. My mattresses topper was also soaked so that’s pushed to the bottom of the bed, I rescued one pillow from the down fall so I had that. I ended up using the wet duvet on the dry side so soort of half on half off the bed, but it kept slipping on, so had to sleep hanging onto it. One tired mum for baby massage at 10.

cheap christening comment made me laugh, i’ll Tell her father there’s no need now, I definitely spoke to god last night when it happened 🤔😂 it wasn’t the usual speech!

Yes to those about the planned repairs, we’d have been without water for a lot longer and of course it’s not illegal 😂 I’m sure it is to intentionally cut someone off for not paying but this was planned work on whole village.

Thanks for the stories 👍🏻

I went to the shop 4 times to get a light bulb.

I sat ds on the toilet with the lid down, wee everywhere.

SnowsInWater · 04/02/2019 11:27

Exhausted and sleep deprived I reached for the teething gel in the dark for DS. Did jack shit - I realized in the light of day I had put KY jelly on his gums!

CigarsofthePharoahs · 04/02/2019 13:05

My stupidest thing wasn't sure to children induced sleep deprivation but illness. I'd had a run of four colds in a row and hadn't had more than a few hours of sleep here and there due to sinus pain and congestion.
Intense sinus pain. To the point where I was stood in my bathroom in the middle of the night wondering what I could do about my painful nose. I found a tube of mouth ulcer gel with lidocaine. Lidocaine is a painkiller, right?
I put it up my nose. Yes I know, so utterly stupid but I'd not had a whole night sleep in weeks and pretty much none at all for days.
Did you know that putting lidocaine gel up your nose really hurts? It stings a bit on a mouth ulcer, but on the delicate nasal membranes it feels like acid.
I just wanted my nose to stop hurting.
