Hello

Been around for ever, but could not log in on my old account!

Anyhow i have no one else to tell and i am feeling nervous yet excited!

Today i sent an email about starting a wellness program in Art for mental health

I have always loved art, but i am not very good! But love to learn and find it very relaxing, last art i did was for GCSE!! So we are over 20 years down the line!!

Background is i had a breakdown in 2012 admission with mental health services, and i have spent 6 years working through and dealing with my BPD,PTSD and emotional distress due to childhood sexual abuse and trauma

I am still in therapy, but in such a better place for both me and my family

But today i did something for me and i am ridiculously excited about it!! I have to call them tomorrow to discuss my options

But i am looking forward to doing something i love, enjoy and find so relaxing!

I cannot wait to get staryed and look at diffrent mediums!!

Anyone else done something like this taken up art later in life?

Not daft! Keep smiling

That's brilliant :) I'm in a similar situation and have just started learning an instrument I've wanted to play for years. I hoped that the practice and concentration would help my anxiety. It really really does!!! I practice so hard that after only 4 lessons I'm already working on my grade one pieces. The sense of achievement of completing a piece of music is absolutely so positive on my mental health. I imagine art would be very similar. Enjoy!!

You’re fantastic!!!!
You really are Flowers

Thank you all so much!

Cricketmum, so pleased your doing something you love too! Good luck in your exam and am sure when the time comes you will ace it!

I cannot wait for tomorrow! Thinking of a trip to to a cheap little sketch pad tomorrow too! I have always wanted one but was too shy and worried people would wonder what i was doing drawing when i am not good at it!

But practice makes perfect! So i need something to practice in! And pencils and rubbers and coloured pencils!!!!

plus it maybe more filling my obssesive need to buy cute stationery

Im convincing myself, is it working on anyone else 😂

Oh do let us know how you get on!!

The works is really good for art supplies. My daughter is only 9 but very artistic and we get all her sketch pads, acrylic paints, sketching pencils and canvases from there x

cricketmum84 · 09/02/2019 19:50

How is the art going OP?

givemebooks · 10/02/2019 10:49

Hi @cricketmum84 thanks for remembering me! How's the instrument and music going?

So hand up i wussed out of contacting the art centre, i am afraid my anxiety over took me but it is something i am working on with my therapist and i have given the centre a heads up and they are happy to support me when i feel i can attend, so that is very kind of them!

I did buy a load from amazon!! And i have been having great fun following you tube tutorials this past week!

I did want to push myself in some aspect of my life so i have decided to take my love of books forward and advance my book review Instagram page in to a blog!

I have never attempted anything like this and i have had to learn how to build a webpage! (Thank god for tutorials lol) and i am excited and very nervous as well as my anxiety and health issues i have Dyslexia which does not help with writing! but i honsetly think the decision to do things for me and what i love to do has just encouraged me to just go for it!

I am taking each day thinking why not!!😁

I review a lot of books pre publication already and i have a small following on Instagram and i hope some might come and read my rambling reviews when my blog goes live!

Would love it if you would give me you opinion on my web page! I think its viewable? but i have just not put any content on it! I can DM the link if you like or you can find me on instagram!

And if anyone else reading this fancy giving a fellow mumnetter a bit of support my Instagram name is @booksandemma and i will post the link there when my blog is ready! And would love people opinions
