What would be your immediate thought?

I was recently in a charity shop, poking around as one does. A female customer paid for a hold-all and left. The woman working there remarked to her colleague 'She's been in every day this week and bought a hold-all each time'.

I said (joking) 'Oh, I bet she's murdered her husband and is trying to dispose of the body parts'. The first woman looked horrified but the second said 'Ooh yes, that's what I'd think!'

I've asked friends about this and they were all ConfusedShock Clearly, I am a psychopath and need to get back to my part time job of torturing small animals ie only giving my cats Dreamies once a day Grin

I wouldn't have any immediate thought, other than a brief laugh and that's that.

Why are you still thinking about it? Grin

HankNPat · 03/02/2019 13:07

I'd laugh too Grin

SummerHouse · 03/02/2019 13:09

Call the police immediately OP.

Bestseller · 03/02/2019 13:10

I would be very curious about why she needed so many, I'd probably have to ask, but Id be thinking along the lines of a homeless project, not murder, I think

HelmutFrontbut · 03/02/2019 13:12

I think I watch too many crime programmes Grin Why would someone need five holdalls in a week?

WorraLiberty · 03/02/2019 13:12

I'm just wondering how many hold-alls the shop sells!

WorraLiberty · 03/02/2019 13:13

Moving home?

Going on holiday?

Buying one for each child/DP?

Racecardriver · 03/02/2019 13:13

What is a hold all?

iklboo · 03/02/2019 13:14

Were the hold alls empty or has she been shop lifting the Clarice Cliff Grin

BBInGinDrinking · 03/02/2019 13:14

I would laugh too, and add my own theories that she's either a hoarder collecting holdalls, or making up packs for homeless people, or using the empty holdalls to move house, or shoplifting from other shops.

I think too much.

HankNPat · 03/02/2019 13:16

It's like a sports bag, Racecar.

RangeRider · 03/02/2019 13:17

She's obviously buying storage for her Brexit supplies and doesn't want to give the game away by buying plastic containers en-masse.... Grin

HelmutFrontbut · 03/02/2019 13:17

The customer looked pretty shady, like Mandy Jordache Grin

Why didn't she buy them all in one go? To prevent arousing suspicion I reckon 😏

Was it HM Queen, getting ready incognito to be evacuated?

Aprilshowersarecomingsoon · 03/02/2019 13:21

Maybe she has 5 bf's and need a bag packed for each one's house??

Sausagefingers9 · 03/02/2019 13:22

I’d laugh and say something inappropriate too.
Have to remind myself not everyone has a dark sense of humour!

Morgan12 · 03/02/2019 13:23

Like Mandy Jordache GrinGrinGrinGrin

TSSDNCOP · 03/02/2019 13:23

Or she’s going to do a bank robbery. You always need a lot of holdalls for that. Bank robbers carry two each usually.

WorraLiberty · 03/02/2019 13:28

Perhaps she's going to rob a penny arcade?

HelmutFrontbut · 03/02/2019 13:28

Range I'm not in the UK so no brexit issues here Grin A few gruesome murders do occasionally occur but usually just farmers shooting each other.

OP posts:
thesunwillout · 03/02/2019 13:28

Iklboo that's what sprang to my mind, or taking a dinner set a bit at a time!!

HankNPat · 03/02/2019 13:31

Ah - so could this just be a difference between the sense of humour with where you are and UK humour?!

ILoveMaxiBondi · 03/02/2019 13:36

Bank robbery was my first thought too. Or perhaps she is the prop buyer for coronation street and needs to buy the dodgiest looking hold-all that Nick will flash around for the entirety of one epsiode so we are all utterly shocked in the next episode when he confesses he stole £80k Grin

HelmutFrontbut · 03/02/2019 13:37

TSS definitely not a bank robbery; I used to live in Liverpool and witnessed enough of them in my time Shock

I'm telling you, this woman was proper shifty.

OP posts:
brizzledrizzle · 03/02/2019 13:40

She's the 30 cat woman mentioned elsewhere and she's moving them all to a new home.
