Paid Breaks at work

Happytrucker · 03/02/2019 03:14

I work for an agency and sometimes have to take 2 breaks of 45 minutes each time, I want to know does my employer have to pay for 1 of the breaks or none of them?

What does your contract say?
My employer wouldn't be paying breaks. You're not working during that time.

It depends on your contract, mine6pays for 30mins but any longer is unpaid

What does your contact say? Legally there is no requirement to pay for any breaks:

Two 45 minute breaks would be very unusual, unless you were working an exceptionally long shift.

Breaks are usually unpaid except for very quick loo breaks where it's not worth the hassle of clocking out and in again (though some employers do both with that hassle). There is no legal requirement for any paid break at all, only that you get at least 20 mins (usually unpaid) if the shift is more than 6 hours. I can't think many employers would pay you to do nothing for 45 minutes, let alone 90!
