God I love the weekends

I just love it. We’re all so busy during the week but Saturday rolls around again and it’s just bliss. We see family or friends in the day then Saturday night is always takeaway and tv, squished up on the sofa just relaxing, not even talking much just being close. It’s my little bit of heaven.

What’s your favourite part of the weekend?

Arriving home on Friday night....knowing it’s all ahead of us.

Sparklingbrook · 02/02/2019 19:47

Envy at people having jobs Mon-Fri. Grin

JustHereForThePooStories · 02/02/2019 19:51

I woke up this morning at two minutes before my usual weekday alarm, thought it was Friday, then realised that nope... it’s Saturday and my alarm wouldn’t sound.

Went back to sleep until almost 9am. It was bliss.

I adore my job, but I live for the weekends.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 02/02/2019 19:59

DP is working until late (1am). Me - Liza Tarbuck on radio + bottle of wine + fish pie cooking in oven.

Fucking BLISS!

Whatever the day that is a lovely feeling Just. The mad few seconds of working out what day it is then realising.

Sparkling-DH works until 2 and I work until 12 on Saturday’s that sucks enough so I really feel for people who work all weekend. We get time in lieu mid-week but it just doesn’t feel the same!

Definitely. Somehow a weekday off is not the same.

I think you need two days to properly relax. The good thing about working Sundays is you don't get the Sunday afternoon glooms though. Grin

Saturday late morning is my favourite time. I get up early on Sat and call my DF, then head to the gym for a hardcore HIIT class. Feels horrendous at the time but great afterwards. Then I walk to my local independent bakers to get a sourdough loaf for the weekend and a macchiato to go, and head to the park to feed the squirrels (with nuts, not with the sourdough! just to clear). As I sit on the park bench feeding squirrels, I feel so joyous at the peace and quiet and being outside - and I feel virtuous that my workout is done and I can relax and enjoy the weekend now. All small things but they add up to making me feel happy.

Sunday morning. Saturday I have my alarm set early to do the washing and put it on radiators before going to the Sainsbury's café for breakfast, but Sunday I get a lie in.

Today, DH and I had different things to do. I was at home and he was out.

At about 4pm, he came home (with groceries and flowers), and I was just finished hoovering. He unpacked the shopping, I arranged my flowers and lit some candles. Then he opened a bottle of wine.

It’s just that sense of closing the door, settling in, and knowing you’re not doing anything but relaxing for the rest of the day that I love.

My kids are too young and it is too cold to enjoy at the moment!
DD gets up at 5.30 and is an exhausted mess by 3ish.
DS just wants to watch TV all day and I get bored!!

Hassled · 02/02/2019 21:07

I love weekends too. I love sitting on my arse for a solid 2 hours in the morning before anyone else is up and actually enjoying my coffee and toast, rather than ramming a bowl of cereal down my neck as fast as I can while I sort stuff out to get out of the house by 7.30. And I can put makeup on in daylight - and I can actually see the garden in daylight.

headinhands · 02/02/2019 21:15

Same here. Dh works away so weekends are always special. Currently he's under a duvet on the sofa next to me watching a program about Mossad. We're all chilling.

shecamefromgreece · 02/02/2019 21:16

I love them too. I just love us all being together. Today's been busy one had a party, three went to jujitsu but tonight was nice.
After the two youngest went to bed my and dh had a pad Thai, some wine and nibbles chilling with the older two girls (8 and 13) just watching the voice and chatting.
I feel like we are moving away from the baby years and into the next stage and I like it!

CrumpBrunette · 02/02/2019 21:21

I try to get housework and any shopping done when I finish work on Friday. Me and DD will often do 'lazy Saturday morning' where we have a lazy breakfast and stay in bed watching tv or daft videos on YouTube. I love it! And Saturday nights in, currently chilling with a glass of wine and a film Grin
