How bad are white lies?

Hi

I basically did something silly- I was on instagram and followed my friends cousin by accident. By the time I could correct my mistake, he found out what I had done. Got pretty mad but as there is no way of him knowing it was my account (only use the account occasionally and it's for travel pics ), i told him it wasn't me. He accused me of lying. Is it too late to confess now? Will it cause more damage?

I’m a bit confused; your friend or your friends cousin got annoyed? And why did either of them get annoyed?

No it's more to do with my friend who is angry that firstly I followed his cousin. Main point is should I just tell him it was me?

Because he was already mad me for something else and this was just did it for him. I know how pety it sounds over social media
