What to put in party bags for 11 yr old girls?

Help!! It's my DD's party in a couple of weeks and she is having 11 friends at a gymnastic/dance style party. A couple of the girls are older (14) and a couple are younger (9/10). All dance or do gym and like music. Much as I hate party bags, I feel I have to oblige but just don't know what to put in them. I don't mind spending up to £5 for each party bag but don't really want to buy rubbish or just sweets!! What would you put in them?

lip balm, sweets, nail polish, smelly pen, notepad?

Zwischenwasser · 02/02/2019 13:49

Dont bother.

Claim to be saving the planet if anyone says anything.

11 is too old for party bags. If you feel you have to do something, then a sweet cone is good.

Too old for party bags. Give them some sweets and a piece of cake.

What about a themed necklace, usually quite cheap (and not plastic), if you google Amazon or EBay you will find loads.

Ask your dd for ideas.

Fresh01 · 02/02/2019 14:10

Box of Maltesers each?

I do a box of chocolates or a non-Xmas mini selection box Home Bargains £1-2 each. We also had a few prizes at DDs last party of stationery etc as she had a Taskmaster themed party

EmpressJewel · 02/02/2019 14:19

I would probably buy 1 smallish gift;

Friendship bracelet
Bubble bath
Hair clip
Cotton tote bag

JurassicGirl · 02/02/2019 14:21

For DD's 10th birthday she had 2 small nail varnishes from Primark, unicorn toe seperator, neon emery board, lego Harry Potter blind bag & malteasers.

She loves Harry Potter but has only just got into nail varnish & it was her idea.

Everyone seemed to like it.

JurassicGirl · 02/02/2019 14:24

TheShoeLady

We're thinking of doing a taskmaster themed party later this year can I ask what you did? Any tips?

It'll be a mix of adults & kids Smile

Pair of leg warmers instead or a dance bag. My DD had a pj party a couple of weeks ago and I gave them all pj bags.

Too old for party bags. Give them some sweets and a piece of cake.
This!

LynetteScavo · 02/02/2019 14:30

I think a piece of cake and some decent sweets is fine. The problem with giving a necklace or something is it could be better than the birthday gift.

DD was given a party bag at a 12th party...it was a really nice cup with some sweets in, nicely wrapped in cellophane. How about a gymnastics water bottle with sweets in?

ilovewelshrarebit123 · 02/02/2019 14:45

My 11 year old would be horrified if I did party bags, I also think 11 is too old for a party as such.

Pizza and cinema yes but not a party.

listsandbudgets · 02/02/2019 14:49

Lots of good ideas here. Try to get hold of some small fabric jewellery bags . I think we found them in the pound shop in packs of 5. Look much prettier than a plastic bag

listsandbudgets · 02/02/2019 14:50

organza bags I mean

Thanks for all the suggestions. A party where we are is fairly normal at this age and I'm doing party bags but not going mad.
We've just had a stroll around Matalan and Home Bargains and are going with notepads and pompom pens. I'd like to get canvas bags to put it in only if I can get them cheap enough!!
Thanks all.

never too old for party bags, according to my 12 yo. Just put in fewer, better quality things.
Recent hits have been gloves, socks (primark is great for these), small box of chocolates. Am probably going to do a Lush bath bomb each and a packet of sweets for her birthday next month.

Chocolategirl79 · 02/02/2019 15:36

The gymnast necklace is fab @iwantavuvezela. Really tempted to go down that route and I also really like idea of the water bottle with sweets. I had hoped to order it all online for ease but was actually really surprised at availability in the shops!!
Really grateful for all the ideas.

I just did a 11yr old party. (DS) I filled a pencil case with sweets.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 02/02/2019 16:08

I did boxes of Maltesers for 11yr old DS. £1 each and minimal fuss and minimal plastic tat. Have also done Aldi chocolate Santas or reindeer or rabbits, whatever time of year it is, they're even less than £1 and no plastic at all.
