Why is my baby leaking out his nappy?

FTM here, baby is 12 days old and 7lb 8oz. He's in size 1 pampers which state they fit his weight. However whenever I go to change him (esp in the night) which is every 2 hours, he's leaked through the top abs his babygrow is wet through.

Anyone else have this problem? Means I'm changing not only his nappy but his baby grow & sheet. 4 times through the night!

Are you making sure his winky is pointing downwards when you put the nappy on? If it points up it usually leaks so that could be why!

Try a different brand. They aren’t all the same shape. Also (someone with boys can explain better) make sure his willy points downward.

Do you have the nappies on tight enough (when my two were fairly hefty newborns the tabs pretty much overlapped), willy pointing down, frill out? If so then the brand might just not suit. We got on better with Tesco newborn nappies.

Move to the next size up. I always found that stopped any leaking.

Congratulations! I would move him to size 2, the weights for each nappi size overlap and your baby is just into the size 2 weight (as well as still is size 1) but leaking through is an indication to move up a size.

Pull the frilly bits around his legs out. Nappy fit ok? Willy down. I found lidl best newborn and aldi from size 3. Now on 4+ and use aldi in day and pampers premium pants for nightime as he pees a lot in sleep

Fab advice thank you. I didn't know to make sure his winky points down! I'll do that now on, if it doesn't work I'll get next size up.

Point his penis down into the bottom of the nappy.
