There's a mouse loose about this house

So found was sat in living room with my two cats they run off into kitchen to stare at the cupboard so I go through and open the cupboard cat jumps in and I hear something running away turns out there's a huge hole in the back of the cupboard that the cats couldn't get in. I've found some droppings, urgh. I've taped up the hole with black tape put flour down to see if they can still get out. And made a DIY mouse trap.... Feel so icky calling past man in morning

Tape won’t work. You need to pack wire wool into the hole (rips their mouths when they bite it) and then cover and seal it.

That’s barbaric. I’ve used humane traps. Bit of chocolate or cheese in, they go in overnight and the next morning let them loose in a field.

Nothing has been caught overnight in my DIY trap. Going out today to buy an actual mouse trap. I'm debating on uncovering the hole to let them out so I can catch them rather than it starving in the walls
