What do 10 yr old girls like

Help! I'm fairly confident with present buying when they are in single figures. I feel like I need help after that. I need a present for my best friend's daughter. She's quite girly. And growing up fast. What are 10 yr old into?

TIA

Harry Potter. All the books. Paraphernalia
Stationery. Especially from Paperchase or other nice stationery places.
Lights for her room (fairy lights, a light up giant initial)
Nail varnish
Lip gloss/salve in pots or novelty cases
Lip gloss
Lip gloss
Adventure books
Climbing walls
Electronics set
Lip gloss
Hair chalk
Magic set
Lip gloss

TenThousandSpoons · 01/02/2019 22:42

Slime
Squishies
Headphones
Books
Notepads/stationary
Clothes (hoodies, T shirts, leggings)
Light box/pin board/something else for bedroom (New Look has some nice things)
Voucher/cold hard cash
These are all things my ten year old would like.

WardrobeInCrisis · 01/02/2019 22:42

It depends on the girl. I have had more than one ten year old, and what they'd like would be opposites and everything inbetween!

I'd zone into existing hobbies.

Cute pjs

WardrobeInCrisis · 01/02/2019 22:44

PS And take into account who they are... for example for a ten year old child with dyslexia, a book would be a huge disappoint 😔 I've been there.

Areyouongluedear · 01/02/2019 22:44

If her mum allows it (check first) some really pretty make up brushes and an eyeshadow palette. For at home dress up Smile

Or a glitter slime making kit (again check first)

She may still be into Jaqueline Wilson books too...

nuttynutjob · 01/02/2019 22:47

Smiggle

WendyCope · 01/02/2019 22:48

I have one! She would HATE Harry Potter and lipgloss and is NOT 'girly' So depends really.

You can't go wrong with a few things from TIGER (cheap) in a nice bag. New pencil case/ novelty rubbers/ pens etc.

Or a hoodie. They all love these!

Mine likes cushions for her room (cool ones in TIGER)

Or, a starbucks reuseable cup! The height of sophistication!!!

WendyCope · 01/02/2019 22:50

Oh yes, second J Wilson books and Slime! Hmm

hairygodmother · 01/02/2019 22:57

Mine likes squishies (heaven knows why but she's obsessed with them) and Pusheen. And llamas. Please don't get make-up, even for a girlie girl, she's 10!

ScottyTeapot · 01/02/2019 23:00

hairygodmother - my 10 year old loves to experiment with make up at home. Don't be so judgy.

"Please don't get make-up..."

Please do one.

hairygodmother · 01/02/2019 23:00

Mine likes squishies (heaven knows why but she's obsessed with them) and Pusheen. And anything llama-related. Please don't get make-up, even for a girlie girl, she's 10!

hairygodmother · 01/02/2019 23:01

Didn't mean to sound judgy and also didn't mean to post twice, but there's plenty of time surely for them to experiment with make up without starting at 10.

MrsApplepants · 01/02/2019 23:03

Pusheen, llamas, a flamingo neon light, slime anything, hoodies, ridiculous slippers, stationery, more ‘grown up’ craft kits & art stuff, bath bombs (if allowed) also Waterstones/ Smiggke/Tinc/ Claire’s/ Zara gift voucher

MrsApplepants · 01/02/2019 23:03

Smiggle

Cantdecidewhere · 01/02/2019 23:04

My 10yr old would hate all the girly nail & makeup stuff. She's more into animals, collectibles such as squishes, lols and Pokemon cards. A microscope was a massive hit recently, pjs, arts and crafts kits always go down well. Or cinema vouchers would be great too.

MrsApplepants · 01/02/2019 23:04

Oh god and squishies. I hate squishies

Designerenvy · 01/02/2019 23:05

My DD has just turned 11.
Her ideal birthday present would be a selection of nic nacs from tiger and / Primark.... all wrapped individually in a gift bag .
Eg: fluffy socks
Keyring.
Notebook
Fancy pen/ pencil
Earphones
Bath bomb
Hairbrush
Hair bobbins
Sun glasses
Lip gloss
Necklace
She'd be thrilled with any of those

WendyCope · 01/02/2019 23:06

Yes, you can't go wrong with a wretched squishy. Get on Amazon.

4strings · 01/02/2019 23:10

Fleecy blanket (my 11 yo dd loves them) with maybe a cute little bag/hair things (from somewhere like H&M)/fancy stationery from Paperchase wrapped up inside it.

dinkydolphin · 02/02/2019 09:32

A lava lamp, roller skates, slime, scooter or play clothes here!

We also have a current obsession with crop tops which she is only allowed to wear under clothes (god help me)

Rockbird · 02/02/2019 09:35

Oh no they're called belly tops now to distinguish them from crop top underwear. According to my 11yo. I hate them too but DD1 loves them.

Rockbird · 02/02/2019 09:35

(She's only allowed to wear them with a vest under. Ha ha!

wheresmyhairytoe · 02/02/2019 09:39

Squishees, slime, novelty pens, glittery tat...

pink1173 · 02/02/2019 09:41

I usually go to Primark or Tiger and get a nice gift bag or themed reusable shopping bag from PRimark and fill it with stuff!key rings, fairy lights, t shirts, tops, hair bits and pieces, fluffy socks, slime, squishies etc. Girls of that age generally like lots of little bits and pieces. OR IFyou want bigger items go for a blanket or a hoodie. My ten year old is obsesssed with all of the above!
