Slightly creepy aren't they?

I always like it when that happens! It’s a bonus.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 01/02/2019 19:06

Draw eyes on it.

EssentialHummus · 01/02/2019 19:08

Wahoo, bonus pepper!

I tend to get them more when I buy value peppers, always wonder why.

MummyDummyNow · 02/02/2019 19:00

I had one of those the other day and found it really creepy! Ridiculous I know Grin

DrFoxtrot · 02/02/2019 20:15

I always eat the baby pepper Grin

CruCru · 02/02/2019 20:22

The baby pepper is usually sweeter.

hidinginthenightgarden · 02/02/2019 20:56

That is so cool!

Eve · 02/02/2019 20:59

Sorry - morbid thought - I always wonder is that the equivalent of a human tumor?

SpringForEver · 02/02/2019 21:28

I have often wondered about these little peppers and always forgot to look it up, until now.

'That little pepper inside a bigger pepper is called an “internal proliferation.” Its form can vary from irregular and contorted to a near-perfect but sterile fruit. A pepper growing inside a pepper is a type of parthenocarpy, which is the formation of fruits without fertilization or the formation of seeds.'

EssentialHummus · 02/02/2019 21:33

It's a genetic mutation apparently: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3214887/

CalmDownPacino · 02/02/2019 21:40

Ooh I like these. I always eat the baby pepper whole and then feel guilty because he was only a baby.

IndianaMoleWoman · 02/02/2019 21:58

It’s like some episode of Grey’s Anatomy where they find out that the “tumour” growing inside them is actually their own twin that they fused with in the womb.

Like a Kit-Kat that’s all chocolate and no biscuit, I take it as a sign of good luck (but I am very weird like that).

JustHereForThePooStories · 02/02/2019 22:00

I always feel bad when I cut the baby pepper out. Like, I’m 100% pro-choice, but always wonder what the mama pepper would have chosen?

Squirrelonwheels · 02/02/2019 22:02

These always freak me out, totally irrationally I know Blush

TigerDroveAgain · 02/02/2019 22:04

I can’t eat them, they freak me out too. They’re like the little blobs of blood in eggs which also make me feel weird

babysharkah · 02/02/2019 22:26

I never eat the baby pepper!

AliceLutherNeeMorgan · 02/02/2019 22:34

I also relate it to the Grey’s Anatomy “fetus in fetu” thingy; I learned a lot from that show Grin

I like the little one though - I never waste it!

ChristmasSnow · 02/02/2019 22:35

Twins :)

VelociraptorRex · 02/02/2019 22:37

I can't eat the baby pepper either Blush

@IndianaMoleWoman we had a friend of the family used to work for nestle and brought us the "factory seconds", aka kit kats without wafers, I always bought those were awesome Grin

SuperHeroGirl · 02/02/2019 22:40

This always make me feel a bit sick 🤢

JiltedJohnsJulie · 02/02/2019 22:40

You killed a PG pepper? What kind of monster are you? Shock

DareDevil223 · 02/02/2019 22:49

I had one of these recently and took a picture of it. I did eat the baby but I felt a bit bad about it Smile

A pepper with a pepper in it.
DrFoxtrot · 02/02/2019 23:18

If you don't eat the baby pepper, you're not allowing it's full potential to be realised. You're preparing and eating the big pepper but the little baby pepper will be destined never to be eaten Shock. Or something like that...

And it's sweeter Grin.

MouseUtopia · 03/02/2019 00:48

We call these 'pregnant peppers' and eat the little one inside rather than cooking it with the big one.

Bigonesmallone3 · 03/02/2019 01:00

I don't like it when I get these, feels weird..
Like Iv just performed a c-section
Iv never really thought of eating the baby 🤔
