Is Iraq a safer place to live now?

I’m just curious. 3 families from my DDs school have moved back in the last few months, including her best friend and her family. Has something improved there? Or is the UK just less appealing? I’m hoping it’s the first option. DD’s friend only left in the last couple of days, so no idea how it’s going yet.

It’s both, Iraq is slightly better, but the UK is getting much worse.

It depends a) when they came here and b) which part they're going back to.

But yes, large tranches of Iraq are OK.

I think they’ve been here around 4 years. Don’t know why they moved here.

My DH got back from a deployment in Iraq just before Christmas. It’s dependant on area.
The closer you get to the Syrian/Turkish borders, the more sketchy it’s likely to be. The southern-most points, closest to SA are likely to be a bit more like living a “normal” life

Wondered this too, my colleague's husband works out there doing some sort of teaching.

I know nothing of the country other than the Kurdish part.

If it's that recent yes, likely to be much better than when they left.
