Would my bank card still work if I stuck a label on it?

This is possibly the weirdest question I’ve ever asked on here, but does anyone know whether my bank cards would still work if I stuck either a little sticker or just sellotaped a bit of paper to them?
And where about on the card would be best to do it?

Hope it won't have your pin written on Grin

You can write on a bank card with a Sharpie

BikeRunSki · 31/01/2019 20:03

I was going to say Sharpie. Anything stuck on might come off in a cash machine and snarl it up.

4forkssake · 31/01/2019 20:26

No idea the answer but intrigued to know why you want to know.

PurplePepperEater · 31/01/2019 20:26

A sharpie! Of course! I spend half my life cursing the buggers because they never come off anything, I don’t know why I didn’t think of that Grin thankyou both

And Journey how else would I remember it WinkGrin

Mine have a little sticker on as I have cards for 3 different accounts with the same bank.

It’s just on the front at the top. Works perfectly Smile

PhilomenaButterfly · 31/01/2019 20:30

Why do you want to write on your bank card? Confused

safariboot · 31/01/2019 20:43

Provided you don't cover the chip or magstripe it wouldn't stop the card working. But as mentioned, the chance of the label getting stuck in a machine makes it not a good idea I don't think.

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 31/01/2019 21:26

I have 3 identical bank cards for 3 accounts so use a sharpie to differentiate between them after the bit of paper I had on it meant it got stuck in the cash point !

Stch · 31/01/2019 21:28

I sharpie mine now but I've stickered in the past too and it worked!

KeptTheBeachesShipwreckFree · 31/01/2019 21:31

I had my card personalised with a photo.

KennDodd · 31/01/2019 21:35

One of mine worked for months with a corner chewed off by the dog, it was chip end as well. Before contactless, I would put it in the chip and pin machine, chewed corner first, took a bit of a push to get it in and a hard pull to get it out again. I didn't dare use it in a cash machine though. I think one of my cards still has the 'please remove this sticker' stickers on, works fine.

StrongerThanIThought76 · 31/01/2019 21:38

You laugh at the thought of writing your PIN on your card. I used to work in a bank and I'd see this every day. Every Fucking Day.

bananamonkey · 31/01/2019 21:48

I have a little sticker on top right as I have 2 debit cards with the same bank and it makes it easy to find the one I need in a hurry, it was a star but currently it’s a small dinosaur Blush

AlanThePig · 31/01/2019 22:37

I'm tempted to nail varnish the edge of my club card which is annoyingly exactly the same colours as my nationwide card.

AlannaOfTrebond · 31/01/2019 22:40

I've got 5 cards from one bank and they all look the bloody same.

I've sharpeid a couple and have snipped the corners off another. They all still work fine.

Chingling · 31/01/2019 23:14

You can take the chip out and put in on a magic wand.

DanFmDorking · 01/02/2019 00:02

I use these.
They're not so obvious, they stay stuck on and one can feel them on the card.

BikeRunSki · 01/02/2019 07:07

AlanThePig - ask Tesco for a new Clubcard, they have red edges now.
