Anyone had fibroids treated?

If so may I ask some questions? Various scans in pregnancy and while getting my coil fitted revealed a few fibroids, one reasonably large I believe.
What constitutes heavy enough periods to warrant treatment? My bleeds last about 10 days with 2-3 days of being heavy, warranting a change of heavy bleed pads every few hours. Nothing like needing to change my rag every hour though. Tho i do come on every 3-4 weeks.

I am currently on day 11 of my bleed and it's fucking miserable. I get spotting in between bleeds and i have low iron stores which I'm taking iron tablets for, but I'm feeling very sorry for myself today.

My mum had a hysterectomy at about 42 ish due to fibroids. That was a good 20 plus years ago now so i expect treatment methods are different. I'm fed up of feeling tired and emotional. Can i speak to my gp about it?

I've just had a hysterectomy for fibroids, I had quite a few smallish 2-3 cm all.in the wall of the uterus but also a very bulky uterus ( 4 month preg size). Very heavy periods plus random floods. I had my operation privately as we are Insured but I have tried coil, transexamic acid etc. I used to need to change a pad hourly for first 2/3 days even with transexamic acid tablets and flooded even with mirena coil in. I'm 46 but with no signs of menopause yet and my.mum also had hysterectomy for fibroids.

You definitely need to talk to your GP. I wentas Iwas having toget up during the night to change pads.
At first I was given tablets to reduce the heavy peroids.
I was sent for scans which revealed large fibroids, then to gynae and then was treated by fibroid embolisation.
Basically a radiologist inserted a catheter through vein in my groin, up to uterus and the blood vessels feeding the fibroid are closed off.

It worked almost at once. The heavy peroids stopped to my great relief only had one fairly heavy one in a year after

I had a fibroid discovered in early pregnancy. Was have an internal scan to check why I wasn’t getting pregnant. It grew in pregnancy and I had it removed about a year post pardum. It was too large for keyhole so cut along c section scar and removed it.
Before getting pregnant My periods would be heavy for first couple of days and only last 5-7 days but did contain clots. After giving birth they get really heavy for a bit and lots of clots.

I’ve been think for a while that I’ve got another one (5years later) as periods very cloty again but still not long or that painful.

Thanks all. The thing is that I don't have clots and I don't flood. For a few months I would leak through a heavy pad on one or two nights but that has stopped now.
Before kids my periods lasted about 7 days but the flow was more even. Now they are light the first and end 2 days, and moderate when not heavy.
My bleeds came back about 2 years ago i reckon while on the implant. Had the implant replaced with a non hormonal coil last year (same as i had pre kids) and there has been no change in my bleeds since then. Still just as long and a similar pattern of light/moderate/heavy etc.
I just think that my periods make me knackered and for sure anemic. I'm fed up.
