Mari Kondo fans- where are you getting your boxes from?

I (slightly shamefully!) have owned Marie Kondo's book for 2 years and only gave it the initial glancing over. Having now watched the Netflix series I'm fully motivated to make changes and have embarked on the KonMari method full force!

My only stumbling block now is finding boxes to put in drawers to sort my various komono. I've got a couple of shoe boxes/ gift boxes and that's it! Has anyone found somewhere to buy storage trays or boxes from? Or any creative ideas as to how to magic some up?

Thanks Smile

I got some croydex(?) boxes for my kitchen cupboards - for the first time ever I’m not played Buckaroo in there! (One for plastic storage tubs and one for bakeware - the rest just nicely sits on the other shelf!). Got them from Wilcos

Your house will provide Grin

In my kitchen cupboard, I have a giant cornflakes box, cut in half, to store my Tupperware - lids in one half and bottoms in the other.

Other food containers would work well too.

After years of trying to perfect my storage solutions, I have accumalated a ridiculous amount of plastic boxes Blush. Half of my collection is currently being stored in the shed. I will never need to buy another plastic box. Ever.

I’ve used up all the boxes I had bought electricals in and then kept for no reason at all except it felt wrong to throw a phone box away.

I'm not following her, but a few years ago I bought some great storage trays from Ikea and Lakeland.

I use the tupperware type boxes that I can never find a matching lid for.
I have some fabric drawer boxes from Ikea that fit neatly into Ikea drawers.
Clear washbags and pencil case type things can be reused.
Sandwich bags.
Bags are stored in a big bag etc.
I had quite a lot of baskets - they are now used to store things in.
Not decluttered much but I am working on it.
As pp, the house will provide.

I would not buy 'storage items - it's just more clutter.

Muji do loads of different cupboard and drawer insers

Thanks everyone! 😊 I'm going to do a mixture of using boxes from the house (great shout on cereal and electrical boxes) and also seek some nicer ones for my clothes drawers.

You shouldn’t deal with storage until you have completed all of your tidying. You will have an unbelievable amount of storage already that can be reused.

When I kondoed a few years ago I found all sorts. My son is still using shoe boxes, cereal boxes and nappy boxes within his drawers. I had some existing Ikea drawer inserts which I have rejigged and the only things I think I’ve officially bought are the utensil drawer inserts (why didn’t I have them?!)

I like curver baskets. Theres a wide range.
But definitely work out what you have and ideas on how to store them and measure before buying any.

mummabubs · 01/02/2019 19:48

True @stiffstink, we're nearly there (onto komono now), although I do have a rough idea of what's in the house as we only moved recently so was just wondering where I was going to find storage when we've used up the few obvious boxes we have.
