Baby Boy Tights

BunnyTeapot · 31/01/2019 11:47

So with my baby brain last year, I bought a load of baby boy dungarees and rompers for my baby to wear when he's 9-12 months. However he turns 9 months in February and nearly all of them are short...

Do people still put their baby boys in tights or will he look weird?

Tights look fine on any baby. They're very practical too.

KatharinaRosalie · 31/01/2019 11:49

I did, nothing weird about it. It's much more practical than socks.
If you think it's too 'girly', there are plenty of car and truck print tights available, check ebay or Scandinavian brands.

Nousernameforme · 31/01/2019 11:50

I did it with all my boys m&s used to do a 2 pack of red and dark blue ones

I love baby boys in tights. If you want some fun designs, look at Slugs and Snails and Blade and Rose, or the Little Legwear Company are a bit more budget friendly. My now 18-month-old lived in a LLC rainbow pair last winter.

AveAtqueVale · 31/01/2019 11:56

Tights! I usually put dungarees or a romper on over the top if we were going out.

Of course

trulybadlydeeply · 31/01/2019 12:02

Yes, my boys wore tights until they got to the stage where they didn't pull their socks off! Tights are tights, regardless of gender.

BunnyTeapot · 31/01/2019 12:04

Thank you all, I think I just needed clarification because he's been in weather appropriate clothing since birth so I haven't had to think about it... wasn't sure if it was still a done thing and I'm a first time mum.

I've seen the funky blade and rose tights and love them (don't have any yet but I plan on getting him some!) but these are going to have to be plain white or baby blue due to the outfits.

P.s weird wasn't the word I meant in my original post but I just can't think of any babies I've seen at any groups wearing tights 😬

My boys are 5 and 7 and want to wear shorts all year round, we have compromised on shorts and tights in winter. They wear thermal base layer tights/leggings for sport as well so shorts over tights seems logical. They wore tights as babies too as they always pulled their socks off.

TescoValue · 31/01/2019 12:09

My son wears tights, he's 17 months almost. H and M do boys ones but I usually pick them up in Primark in a pack of 3. Red white and blue!

MrsAmaretto · 31/01/2019 12:17

Yes, my son did. I bought them from the German company Jako-o as struggled to find any bits tights in the UK back in 2011!

MrsAmaretto · 31/01/2019 12:17

Boys!!

Bluearsedfly36 · 31/01/2019 12:18

I used to put my boys in tights under trousers etc because I was sick of them pulling off their socks. Plus it keeps their legs warm in this cold weather.

roisinagusniamh · 31/01/2019 12:21

Put tights of any colour/s on a baby regardless of gender!

mogtheexcellent · 31/01/2019 12:32

slugs and snails are a brand designed in Ireland originally for boys. DD lives in their tights. Smile

Barbarafromblackpool · 31/01/2019 12:37

I adore little boys in tights. So much nicer than stiff jeans or cords with two inches of chilly ankle being bared.

jomaIone · 31/01/2019 12:44

I have never seen little boys in tights! I would probably put leggings under the dungers but I suppose that's no different really!

BunnyTeapot · 31/01/2019 12:53

I've been searching online and I'm shocked so many places only have tights listed in the girls section. I need white ones which are easy enough to find but also wanted some baby blue ones and cannot find them anywhere barring one pair on eBay.

It's daft how they are considered for girls only isn't it? They are so practical for all kids. DS had some grey ones when he was small that I found the girls section. He used to wear them under his trousers to school when it was freezing!
Are BabyLegs still around? DS had some of their leg warmers too. Nothing cuter than a fat baby leg in a leg warmer!

ChodeofChodeHall · 31/01/2019 12:57

My DS wore tights in the Winter as he spent a lot of time in slings with his legs dangling! Smile We got them from EBay, you can get such cute ones with little helicopters on the bum. Adorable!

Marcipex · 31/01/2019 13:00

Some little boys , especially those with German or Scandinavian parents, would come to nursery with tights under trousers.
The nursery rooms were warm, so we used to take the trousers off indoors, and they just played in their tights.

Thesearmsofmine · 31/01/2019 13:06

All three of my sons have worn tights, my youngest still does. Slugs & snails are fab and funky.

BunnyTeapot · 31/01/2019 13:58

Just looked at slugs and snails. They are so cool!

I'm fully converted and going for a hunt to find tights in town tomorrow before. Hoping our local boyes will have the baby blue I'm looking for. It's crazy, so many pinks but only navy blue!

SnuggyBuggy · 31/01/2019 14:00

Ive found the tights under dungarees and trousers so useful I'd definitely do the same for a baby boy.

OutPinked · 31/01/2019 14:00

Tights are fine for either sex. I have put both sexes in a multitude of prints and colours, I really don’t see how baby clothing can be gender assigned.
