Accidentally taken double BP meds (ffs!)

I take 5mg Ramipril a day, last 50 days I’ve taken 2 x 2.5mg as that’s all the pharmacist had.

New prescription is 5mg tabs...obviously, me being an idiot, I’ve just taken 2

Am I going to die in the night or just be a bit lightheaded!

The usual dose is up to 10mg. You could well be lightheaded but I doubt it would do any damage as a one off.

Don't jump up quickly or you could faint.

Trust me, there’s no chance of me doing anything quickly

As others have said- change position (lying to standing) slowly. Do you have a home BP checker? If you start to feel dizzy and light headed, check your reading. Call NHS direct if you become symptomatic.

The peak effect of a tablet is around 6 hours after administration so see how you are feeling in the morning before you go out anywhere.

If you are elderly or on diuretics this will be longer and more pronounced.

Woke up at 5am to the neighbours hoover which startled me so I jumped out of bed, felt like I was going to faint then was fine all in about 20 seconds!

Otherwise totally fine!

I've done this with BP tablets (different one to yours though). I just felt rather light headed and a bit dizzy for several hours. It hit a peak about 3 hours after taking them,then gradually wore off over the next 6 hours.
