Over the last few months I have become aware that a small disruptive group of boys in DD's yr2 class have been violent to other children in ways that I think are unacceptable the list of the incidents I know of in the last 6 wks (so there could easily be more, only talk to a handful of parents regularly).
-my DD strangled by boy 1
-Friend's DS punched in stomach by boy 1 whenever passing for a week until dealt with by staff
-boy 2 and 3 fighting a boy who is on the edge of their group for not following the rules of a game
-Same friend's DS as in point 2 getting pushed over so hard by boy 2 and 3 that he was concussed.
- another girl kicked by boy 2 and spun around by the hood of her coat.
All 3 boys come from what would be considered stable middle-class homes (my point is that there are no obvious issues at home), parents of boy 2 and 3 have a reputation for turning a blind eye to their kids behaviour. All these boys have always played 'roughly' but this seems like an escalation.
Although the school speaks to the parents when something like this happens, my impression is that they are dealt with as isolated incidents and not one ongoing problem.
Would appreciate views on whether this is normal levels of violence, I appreciate there is always some british bulldog type roughhousing, kicking each other in the shins in every playground.
Also how to keep this on the school's agenda or perhaps escalate this at school so that more attention is focused on stopping it.
