The man sitting next to me on the metro was 'playing' with this.
It had loads of tiny flashing lights and little buttons.
And headphones.

No idea but I would like to know as well

I too thought of some type of music mixer/synthesizer, but nothing similar came up when I searched on line

Dh has something similar and spends ages making beats n stuff on it. It keeps him quiet and occupied.
