What do you think of Joyce as a name?

My nan's sister was called Joyce and she hated her name but for some inexplicable reason she gave her eldest daughter the same name. The Joyce I know is rather bitter and certainly not "full of joy" and for that reason, I dislike the name.

For a modern baby in 2019? No.

WaterBird · 29/01/2019 15:58

I like it.

I think it’s a bit old fashioned, but then again old fashioned names have been given a revival
Quite like Joyce, but prefer Joy

FurryDogMother · 29/01/2019 17:40

It was my Mum's name, and my middle name is Joy. I like it.

Dowser · 29/01/2019 17:51

It’s akin to nails down a blackboard for me
Sorry Joyce’s

My name is Joy, I hated it when I was younger because it was a bit old ladyish but I've grown to love it. Really don't like being called Joyce though.

TroysMammy · 29/01/2019 20:49

It's the name of my ex (now late) FIL's bit of stuff when he was still married. She was also a neighbour. They both caused all sorts of heartache so I very much dislike the name.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 29/01/2019 22:02

My wonderful late DM's name She would've been 90 this year
Her middle name was Evelyn

BeachtheButler · 29/01/2019 23:12

Sorry OP, I think it's awful. The sort of name a minor character in a 1980s sitcom has.
