new toothpaste stripping off my gums?

am away.
only sensitive toothpaste in the shop here was arm&hammer.
is it normal that my gums hurt after using it twice?
it tastes awful btw.

I get the exact same thing with arm & hammer, few other whitening toothpastes too. It's quite satisfying peeling the thin layer off Grin. Dental hygienist was giving me free samples of oral b I think & asked if I had any probs with teeth or gums. I told her about the peeling & she put the samples straight back in the cupboard, gave me Colgate & told me to stop it Grin.
