Dog found a dead rat and picked it up, although did drop it when coaxed. Neighbours have had rat problems and had poison, so I worry this was a poisoned rat. That said, it was partially alive before my pooch picked it up. Dog had no blood on his mouth nor has any signs of ill health. Obviously I will call my vet tomorrow but how real is the risk to him? I’m worried, of course, but also grossed out.
