Gassy OH

OK... This may well be too much information (and is pretty light hearted tbf) but oh my days, I need help...

My OH is just lovely and I love him to death but, jeeeeeesus, he is gassy!!!! Like on another level! He's been to the Dr's and there's bugga all wrong with him. He just has an overactive backside so it seems.

Anyway, this I could cope with if it wasn't for the smell. Christ. It's like death by fart. I'm struggling with our bedroom in particular--it's too cold to keep the windows open to continually air the room but, bloody hell, it's just grim!! I clean regularly and spray air fresheners but they just mask the smell, and then the following night he's back, trumping away again!!!

Please please please. Does anyone else have a similarly gassy man in their lives? And how the hell do you deal with the bloody smell?!? 🤦‍♀️😂😂

Change of diet. Try gluten free, dairy free. coffee/caffeine for a week. Then reintroduce the gluten for a meal and see what happens. Ditto the dairy the following day etc. That was what we discovered following cameras up, down. Consultant said it was diet combined with a stressful job.

Thanks @justasking. We're gf anyway as I'm celiac but I'll defo try the dairy as well and see if that works.

Charcoal pants? At least for bed!?

Synecdoche · 27/01/2019 19:13

FODMAPS can also cause gas.

Stripyhoglets1 · 27/01/2019 19:17

Look up Fodmaps and reduce them. Removing most onions and garlic from has made out living environment much better for all!

Crazyfrog007 · 27/01/2019 19:18

😂😂 Charcoal pants! Love that suggestion.

Shall also look into FODMAP. thanks.

I'm serious OP!! There's a company called Shreddies that a friend has bought from - it's massively improved her life.

Kittykat93 · 27/01/2019 19:28

Try cutting out greasy foods ?

Crazyfrog007 · 27/01/2019 19:34

@Synecdoche, oh my life!!! Genuinely thought you were joking. Seriously all over that. If I can get a pair, I might just bolt them to his body!!

@kittykat- we don't tend to eat a lot of greasy food as I cook most things from fresh due to the whole gluten thing. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Charcoal tablets after meals. I can tell when H is not taking them because a green fog appears under the door and threatens to explode. Braggs are good, I buy them in bulk and ensure that there is a tub in the kitchen, by the bed, in the car, and in the office. It makes things bearable.

SheeshazAZ09 · 27/01/2019 20:35

Sugar-free is the key for many such folk. Agree with the other diet suggestions too but sugar is really key. For some ppl it is just a 'food fermenter'.

Crazyfrog007 · 27/01/2019 20:55

Life savers, the lot of you. My nose really can't take much more!! Will start with the charcoal and see what else I can persuade him to 😂😂

Oh my god 😂😂 I've just suggested the charcoal tablets to him and been told "noooo... They're my love puffs. The smellier they are, the more I love you. Would you want to neutralise that?" I think he's genuinely 5... Although it did make me chuckle.

Oh, also, the key to maintaining a happy relationship when faced with such problems: sleep in separate rooms. You still 'meet up' for cuddles and sex but afterwards you each go your separate ways until morning. That way only he has to live in his own stink.

Bastardanxiety · 28/01/2019 18:33

Grin "Love puffs"?! Wtf?!
