Could anyone give me advise on a new career?

I have been thinking about becoming a private detective but wonder if this a ridiculous idea?

I am female and middle aged.
I do not have much money- don’t own a house or car.
I have a family.
I have a child with special needs so lots of hospital appointments.

I would love a new career.
I really want to earn more money for long term security.
I also want a career that I could do alongside parenting.

I am very skilled in research.
Very intuitive.
I am intelligent and curious.

I would be willing to get a car if needed.

I have thought about offering services as a family researcher for people without the skills or time perhaps (although these days more is available online for anyone to access).

So I am now wondering about private detective work. Could that be something for me? Is there anything anyone here can suggest? Any tips or ideas? Do people hire someone to find out things? General research when they can’t do something themselves?

Does this sound silly?

I know someone who hired a private investigator to follow her dh when she suspected he was having an affair. It's definitely a job that people can make a living from. No idea how you would go about it but hopefully another mnetter might know more.

I've done genealogical research on my own family history but my time and skills are limited so I've employed ppl to help me too. They advertise in genealogy magazines. You could try advertising for a few months.

Also, the police employ researchers. This may be a way of getting paid while you develop your skills and then later you could go self-employed as a private detective if you felt confident you could do it.

I know someone who used one too but you have to stay within the law and so youd need to know what the law is. Plus i guess you could be dealing with some nasty people.
