I’m half way througj a teaching degree, I have 2 young children and live with dh.

I have 2 lessons to plan for next week, an assignment due in in 2 weeks time, 2 jobs I need to apply for by wednesday, and house that is an absolute shit tip!

I can’t be arsed dping any of it!! I just keep putting it all off, I did no assignment work over the past 3 weekends, no planning last week. Fuck all of anything this weekend!!

I’m not a lazy person, I’m just not in the mood and I struggle to get started with anything!

Is this normal?!

This is 100 percent normal, when you are stressed and have a lot to do you dont want to do any of it. Take a day to yourself to do somthing you want to do with yourself or the kids if you can or you and your DH. Then maybe just do the one thing you absilutly have to do because it's coming up to a deadline. Can DH take one or two things off your plate? I know its hard but mayeb if you need help support reach out to family. Thats a lot to take on, I would struggle. Sometimes we jsut have to lock ourselves away, stop thinking about it and just do it, but youll do it if it's important to you. Good luck you sound like a very hard working person! x

Thanks 19 I think I do just need to tackle one thing this evening! Hopefully that will get the ball rolling!

Unfortunately I’ve just dropped dh off at work, he’s away now for a month. We have no family close by.

Hopefully the kids will go to bed around 7:30 and I’ll summon the enthusiasm!

Start with the cleaning. I know it sounds like the thing that should technically come last on the list, but a messy environment will have d such a detrimental affect on your motivation. But don't do perfectionist cleaning - spend 10 or 15 bitesized mins in each room getting it on order. You can do the same tomorrow to get it a bit more up to scratch.

Then sit down for even half and hour or so and do a quick brainstorm on your assignments so tomorrow you'll be starting a little more in the groove of things and not with a totally blank page.

I so feel for you. I frequently get in ruts like this so you have my best sympathy Flowers

Also as for the cleaning, I tell you what gives me motivation, speed clean vidios on youtube, all of a sudden i want to blitz the house in ten mins then im like right what can i organise now! do a list, check things off its satifying.

ScafellPoke · 27/01/2019 17:43

Thank you!.... I’m going to blitz my room now! While dinner’s cooking. I did dc’s rooms yesterday and the dining room/kitchen this morn but have given up on lounge 🙈

2 young children and doing a teaching degree? You sound like a legend to me!
One thing at a time, house can wait. Prioritise.
Good luck! I'm in awe!
