How do you reward/treat yourself?

Like so many people at this time of year, I've recently been trying to make some changes in my life - to eat more healthily, exercise more, get on top of the housework, save more money and use my time more productively. So far, it has been going fairly well and I'm still quite motivated to keep up the good work.

However, I've been reflecting on a lifetime of disordered eating habits and I've realised that for years, I have self-medicated with food, using junk to "treat" myself at the end of a long day or as a reward for achieving something. I am keen to break that cycle by finding other things that I can treat myself to instead, but I am a bit short on ideas. I'm therefore looking for suggestions - what do you do when you want to be kind to yourself? So far, I have the following ideas:

Fresh flowers for the house
A nice hot bath
An hour in bed with a book
An evening on the sofa with a good film/box set
A cinema/theatre trip
A weekend away
A day off work to do whatever I fancy

Does anyone have any other ideas? I'm interested in both "big" rewards for the significant milestones as well as smaller treats for the hard days when I feel that I've really earned the right to eat crap and veg out.

TIA!

I buy makeup or skincare, good haircare or trip to hairdressers.

Would love time to just lie in bath or bed and listen to music with nobody else around (because that always means noise, tv on etc)

I treat myself to some flowers, daffodils are my favourite.

Or a couple of new fish for my aquarium!

Gym gear
Beauty products
Nice candle
Order a burger & milkshake to be delivered
Rent a movie
Chiropractor or osteopath
Walk my dogs somewhere new & get a coffee
Get my hair done
Perfume (I save up for Tom Ford!!)

Why would you need to reward/treat yourself?

Because it's enjoyable. Because surely the purpose of working is to spend your money on things you like, rather than just paying the gas bill.

Right now it's decluttering - got a new book on it and have been working my way through that and the clutter in the house...

My treats are 'naice' shower gel usually in Waitrose - think Korres, but if on special offer I'm doubly pleased. Or 'naice' think Balance Me etc skincare in Sainsburys. Leisurely walk somewhere, baking a cake.

Ah, OP - the self medicating with food. sometimes I treat myself to something the man in the house can't have or doesn't like.

Or, Quorn mini eggs, nice cheese (Waitrose Goudas etc) but have it sparingly as a treat. Cracker crisps, but as a treat.

I also find if I bake a cake for someone I can lick the bowl (disgusting I know!) and maybe have a slice when I hand it over, but the recipient will get it all!

I go and get a blow dry as a treat. Always have a deep conditioning treatment and head massage. It's an hour well spent.

Thought of another one - going to the cinema by myself, on a weekday. Often it’s pretty much empty, and it’s like your own special showing. Grin I like to go crazy, and get a cup of tea to take in.
